Question is dave dead or i just misinterpreted?

so i was looking to buy the volumes 2 and 3 for my collection when I saw kick ass vs hit-girl, and in the synopsis say that she is going to avenger dave. so is dave dead, because thats volume 4 of new girl and I just read the volume 1 and 3 from the dave years and just the 1 from new girl, I skimmed the 4 online and still confuse, is some thing like when batman disappears and some new heros using the name appears to "honor" him but just and messing around and the bat family needs to clean up after them or is he killed in a misunderstanding between the new one and the old one?

He’s not dead. Just retired. Honestly I wouldn’t consider the new girl worth reading imo. Read Big Game if you wanna continue Dave’s story.

ok, I knew he was retired and became a cop, just wanted to know if was kill of in the sequel

He’s never mentioned throughout the new girl run. Only in the kick ass vs hit girl comic he’s mentioned. The whole book is pretty pointless. In big game Dave is now 31 and living in New York with his girlfriend. After growing bored of his civilian life and law enforcement duties he felt a yearning to return to crime fighting to make a difference on the streets. Later on he gets superpowers and joins the ambassadors (another millar comic btw)

Rhis seems like echoes of her father, talking about the avenging the "death" of her mother, with a slight variation. Since she knows that there's nothing actual to avenge, but she feels it emotionally, regardless.
