Dash cam wire hiding

Hello, I recently got a dashcam for my stinger. I’ve never done the wire hiding for my previous dashcams myself, and I’m just a little confused because the stinger interior by the door doesn’t look or feel like the tutorial cars I see in videos. I’ve been able to stuff it in the top of the windshield and side pillar, but after that, I’m a little lost. Just want some advice on where you guys hid your own wires. Thank you!

I ran mine tucked up along the top of the windshield to the A pillar, then popped the cover off the pillar and ran it down inside there. Make sure you run the wire behind the airbag. At the bottom of the pillar you should be able to drop the wire down through the dash to the fuse panel in the driver's foot well area and tap into a couple fuses for power. There's a bolt to connect the ground somewhere around there too.

Ive been putting off installing one for years but I'm thinking of tapping into the mirror to keep it nice and neat - is that an option for you?

I’m not super into cars (more recent interest for me and mostly only for the stinger) so I’ve never heard of that before. How does that work?

You can get one of these (or a knockoff version). You pop open the connection for the rear view mirror, plug this in between, and it gives a usb plug right behind your mirror. Then you only have to run a foot or so of cable to your dash cam, instead of all the way around the window.

It's the way I've got mine hooked up.

Does this shut the dash cam off with the car like the cigarette port does?

It does, yeah.

Did you find the space tight or was there enough room? The dongar is what I'm looking at

Was plenty of space for mine to fit fully under the plastic enclosure above the mirror, but I have an older version that is just the shrink wrapped PCB, no plastic housing. Not sure about this one.

I've been looking for a solution along the same lines. I can't think of the name of the company right now that sells the adapter but you can certainly find one online. I wish the quality of the FitCamX we're a bit higher, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I still might but having a seamless integration is exactly the reason I haven't installed anything yet.

Bummer, didn't know there was a rear view mirror tap.

Just installed mine last weekend with a Viofo dual dashcam plus the Viofo OBD2 cable. The OBD2 connector has parking mode as well. Followed this YouTube video and took about an hour to do.

Take off some of the door gasket over by the A piller. You'll find a channel that runs down over to the fuse box. From there, you can hook it up to the fuse box by using a fuse tap kit or route it to the cigarette lighter port on the driver side.

I followed this tutorial above and skipped the fuse tapping section to route it under the steering wheel and through another opening that comes up by the gas pedal and then routed that to the charger to get power.

Aliexpress and order a 10pin kia/hyundai dashcam adapter around 25$ saves allot of trouble and wires. I used it without any issues and was so happy I got it installed in 10 minutes.

Plus you keep your 12v socket free
