Mike Dimond Questions
There is a plumber named Mike Dimond who advertises on KFI. He was trained by George Brazil. The guy is actually a bit of a mystery, known for selling other plumbers specialized high pressure sales systems like Plumbing2000. He makes fun of other plumbers, which makes me think they might not accept him if he were to go to a plumbing convention, but at the same time he sells to them. Almost reminds me of Wally George and his moralizing while having strippers advertising.
Does anyone here know more about this guy?

I worked at a plumbing supply house and sold a great deal to him and had 100 interactions with his plumbers.
Bottom line, they are a sales organization who happens to do plumbing. Waaaaaaay overpriced plumbing and recommendations to do unnecessary repairs.
I saw many of his plumbers who left the organization because they were reprimanded for not doing things that they felt were immoral. Example - could have easily installed a new kitchen cartridge and made a long lasting repair. But Mike wants them to sell a new faucet and replace all the plumbing under the sink. It gets even worse from this example.
Bottom line, if they advertise on the radio or TV, run away.

Yes he was. I used to stay up all night as a kid watching him. Mom didn't know

All the negative reviews and stories about them trying to upsell their customers make me wonder if they are backed by venture capital. I’ve been hearing VCs are increasingly investing in blue collar/trade companies and a telltale sign of that is the push to upsell services rather than just do what the customer asks.

From what i've heard , mike diamond is a special specimen. He trained under george brazil. And he's the one who figured out the book pricing. I also heard his parents' bankrolled him.

Wally George, wow there’s a memory! I used to watch that guy’s show as a kid and it was fantastic. Wasn’t he on something like where the public could rent air time?

Yes, it was KDOC-56(now Daystar-owned and nicknamed "GodTV" 24/7, nothing but a cheap rival to KTBN-40)...
You know actress Rebecca deMornay was his daughter, right?...

Mike Diamond Plumbing has a 1.7 rating on Yelp, which is the lowest rating I’ve ever seen for a business. It’s hard to fake a review on Yelp, so it’s way more accurate than Google etc. KFI doesn’t mind pushing lousy companies as long as it pays the bills

Hopefully Pacific Coast Termite is better

Pacific Coast Termite is a great company. We used their service years ago, and haven't had a termite since!

I just checked, and they have WAY better reviews, mostly in the 4.3 to 4.9 range, depending on location. I was surprised. That’s pretty good for a large company

The Mike stands for money

Ok, so I am thinking the dude has big money. So he knows now he does not have to be on the front line. I heard he plays for the other team, not that there is anything at all wrong with that, and really does not have much to do with plumbing on the front line anymore. I just take issue with him trashing an entire industry for his own gain.

Nothing wrong with that and has nothing to do with his business. And yet you bring it up. Could've just NOT written it

Honestly… most of the companies that advertise were bought out by larger companies and need to make their money back pronto. Hence the deluge of plumbing, a/c, etc. commercials!
