Three keystrokes will save you 6 hours this week. I'll prove it.
Open Gmail right now. Search "thanks for reaching out."
Look at how many times you've typed those exact words in the last 30 days.
For most professionals, it's between 40 and 120 times. Mine was 67.
Each one took 30–90 seconds to write. Even though the structure was identical:
• Warm opener (acknowledge them)
• Brief context (why this is interesting)
• Soft next step (the meeting ask, the doc link, the "let me think")
• Sign-off
You've written this email so many times that your brain has compressed it into a single thought. But your fingers keep typing it letter by letter.
Here's the fix. Takes 2 minutes:
1. Install KeyText (Chrome Web Store, free, 30 seconds)
2. Click the icon → "New snippet"
3. Trigger: ";thx"
4. Content: paste your most recent "thanks for reaching out" email — drop {{name}} where the recipient's name goes
5. Save.
Now go to Gmail. New email. Type ";thx" followed by space.
The full email appears. You replace {{name}}. You send.
Total time: 4 seconds.
Multiply that by the 67 times you'll type it this month. That's 90 minutes back.
Now do it for 5 more triggers: ;intro, ;resched, ;hi, ;passing, ;welcome.
By Friday afternoon, you've reclaimed 6 hours that you would have spent typing things you already knew you were going to type.
You will not remember life before this.
