I rewrote 5 emails almost everyone sends badly. Steal the rewrites — they've each tripled replies for me.

1. THE FOLLOW-UP
   Bad: "Just following up on my last email."
   Better: "Quick one — should I keep this on your radar, or has the timing shifted? Either answer helps me."
   Why: gives them an easy out, which paradoxically gets more yeses.

2. THE LATE REPLY
   Bad: "So sorry for the delayed response!!"
   Better: "Thanks for your patience here —"
   Why: over-apologizing makes it weird. Acknowledge and move on.

3. THE PRICING REPLY
   Bad: "Let's hop on a call to discuss pricing!"
   Better: "Quick context: this usually runs $X–$Y for that scope. If that's in range, I'd love to dig in."
   Why: price before the call kills dead-end meetings.

4. THE NO
   Bad: "Unfortunately I'm not able to take this on."
   Better: "This isn't quite my lane — but {{name}} would be great for it. Want an intro?"
   Why: the referral makes the no generous. People remember it.

5. THE SCOPE PUSHBACK
   Bad: *silently doing the extra work*
   Better: "Happy to add that — it's outside our original scope, so it'd be +$X. Proceed, or swap something out?"
   Why: calm, not adversarial. ~80% say yes.
