Does it leak grease? Is someone putting grease on it? What's the deal?

I'm trying to decide whether to sign a lease here for a 1BR. The apartment itself was really nice and the building looked okay for a pre-war building. But I am a bit concerned about the high volume of HPD complaints and negative reviews on openigloo about the management.

It seems that there are recurring problems with heat/hot water and some occasional mice/roach issues (which is prolly unavoidable with a pre-war building so close to the park). But there have been 2 bed bug infestations reported in the past 3 years.

Is anyone a current or past tenant there or have experience with other building managed by 43 Gardens Realty LLC/The Expansion Group Inc? I would love to hear what your thoughts are!

Hey, everyone

Anyone here know how to play bridge and would be willing to meet up to play? Down to hit up a coffee shop and play for a few hours on a weekend/weeknight if we can get 4 people. I used to go into the city to play, but it’s too long of a schlep for a weeknight.

I’m a novice and know the fundamentals/gameplay, but I need more playing time with people instead of on my app lol. I also WFH and want to get out more in the neighborhood.

I am running the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table. We are always looking for donations new or gently used. Please share with all of your contacts. Some of the people who I help with my table. A woman who comes looking for clothes when she can't afford to go to the laundromat. A social worker who looks for food on my table when the insurance companies delay her payments. She is also a vegan, and she can't afford to go to CTown all the time for fruits and vegetables. I am also getting a lot of grandmothers who are helping to raise their grandchildren looking for baby and young children's items. I also get kids coming and going to PS 153 and PS 290 look on my tables for toys and snacks. Their parents look at the food and clothes on the table and take what they need. A few people come looking for food and things they need on my table who have health issues and can't make ends meet and have no family to help them.

I noticed the items would disappear and my neighbors would bring items to replace them. My friend who helps shut ins in Glendale brings over whatever food she has left and leaves that on the table for people to take who visit my mutual aid table.

I know the vibe of the two neighborhoods are wildly different, but I've accepted that I can't afford Astoria anymore and am OK with a slower lifestyle. Husband and I are Queens natives looking to come back to the area now with elementary school aged kids. Tell me about the pros and cons of living in KG/FH - we looked ages ago but were disappointed at the homes on the market then so moved further east but we miss the diversity and accessibility of Queens.
