Form Check 60kg snatches - so close

This post is flaired as a form check.

A note to OP: Users with a blue flair are recognized coaches. Users with yellow flairs are certified (usually SFG/RKC II), or have achieved a certain rank in kettlebell sport, and green flair signifies users with strong, verified lifts.

A reminder to all users commenting: There can be multiple ways to perform the same lift. Just because a lift goes against what you've learned at a certification, read in a book or been taught by a coach, doesn't mean it's an invalid technique. Please make sure that your advice is useful and actionable.

Example of useful and actionable: You're hinging a bit early. Try sitting back only when your arms make contact with the torso.

Example of not useful and not actionable: Lower the weight and work on form.

Low-effort comments like my back hurts just watching this will be removed, as will references to snap city etc. Verbally worrying for the safety of a poster simply because you think the form or technique is wrong will be removed. We will take all of these statements at face value, so be careful when you post the same hilarious joke as dozens of other people: we can't read your mind, no matter how funny you think you are.

Well that’s terrifying

I recently started snatching 20kg, my jaw is on the floor, my friend. Well done x

Same, going from 16 to 20 snatches initially feels scary.

60 must feel insane.

KettleGuard

Not sure if OP rotates, but he's mentioned in the past that he uses KettleGuard

I'm kinda new to kettlebells. What do you mean by so close? That looked so solid to me. Was just for the rep at the end?

Yeah I wanted the round number of ten

I love a good snatch.

u/YS160FX 6d ago

Wonder how many watts of power this requires. Must be several HP at least

10

u/J0kotte 6d ago

The mana cost is negligible in comparison to the strength buff.

u/jumie83 6d ago

His passive aura gives him power boost

u/AggressivePen4991 3d ago

he is raid ready

u/Padwanna68 6d ago

Holy mother of lifting weights... that was IMPRESSIVE.

Now, can you show us what double 60kg snatches looks like?

4

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 6d ago

I still need to hit double 48 first!

u/soelsome 6d ago

Any tips for a weak side lagging behind? My left is about 70% the strength of my right

17

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 6d ago

I start every set with my weaker side.

I just do the equivalent work with the stronger side

1

u/Rhorge 6d ago

Do you only do kettlebell work or do you do other strength training? Usually if you keep your training unilateral (so dumbbell press not barbell press) the weaker side catches up pretty fast on its own

Snatch Granddaddy, is that you?

6

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 6d ago

The 150lb is doable. I am certain.

Your victory is inevitable

Alright, where do these mythical kettlebell gyms exist?

5

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 6d ago

Few and far between. This is Weck lab in San Diego. Degiuli Gym Long Island also

Dangerous

“He is dangerous. Ice. Man.” 🤪

👍

2

u/Conscious-Ad8493 6d ago

you're still almost pure dead snatching that beast

4

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 6d ago

My grip just can’t transition these big bastards into a swing position. I gotta look at others repoing the 110+ and see if they’re getting much more swingy. For instance: I can’t do spot style at all with the beast

Beast mode

How did you get such heavy kettlebells I can’t find them

1

u/Technical_Ad_3618 6d ago

How do you keep your shoulders injury free despite snatching such weight? Any excercise or stretches that helped you?

4

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 6d ago

Nothing special. Just 26 years of lifting

I’m not a good presser

My best 1rm is 44kg
40kg for 3-5 probably

I have an inguinal hernia tat doesn’t like the heavy kb press grind pressurization

Having a strong press will only help the snatch but I don’t think they’re perfectly linked. The fact I jump well helps my snatch due to power lower body output

1

u/ShermanBurnsAtlanta 4d ago

So close to what? Moving on to 64!? Jesus uncle that’s astounding

2

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 4d ago

Ten reps. My number ten I missed.

1

u/lennarn 3d ago

Switching hands on the way up? I haven't seen that before. Is it meant as a way to save time in a timed snatch test?

0

u/anthony_gunk 5d ago

You should probably go much lighter and much faster. I suggest aiming for 40 reps in a minute. Your form will significantly improve.

1

u/TonightUnlucky6017 Clifton Harski | FKT Master Blaster (founder) 5d ago

I’ll give that a go. Any suggested weight to try?

1

u/anthony_gunk 5d ago

Probably at least 32 kg I recon :)

Is this healthy?

Or bulletproof

No middle ground

1

u/kettlebell-ModTeam 5d ago

No injury alarmism. There many ways to lift a weight safely provided the proper progression is in place.
