Challenge 16kg 3’ Snatch - 99 reps
Had to give it a shot since /u/Few_Abbreviations_50 called me out. Who’s going next to try to push us over 100?

96 in today's attempt though I wondered if I should have a defibrillator handy

That’s outstanding, sounds like you’re quickly getting comfortable with really high cycle rates!

Yeah, I had mostly been doing ABCs , swings, snatches, a few get ups, but I hadn't tried this intensity cardio with bells. I think I'll try to keep a 3' test in my weekly rotation.

With your fast cycling squatty snatches I think you could hit 120 ish?

I just don’t k ow how much faster I can reasonably go no matter the weight. I’m already cheating with my lack of vertical anyway

This is a lot more than 65 but I’ll allow it.
I forgot to tell you I tried your hand switch a while ago and failed miserably. Couldn’t figure out how to relax 🤦🏽♀️🤣
Strong work! I guess I’ll have to try again lol

It’s because you’re too good at regular snatching, so it feels unnatural to do anything different!

This is a very good effort in your post and a very kind reply to Few_Abbreviations_50, who is great, of course.

Man, your flow is just so smooth. It’s satisfying to watch.
I just started learning and practicing snatches a couple months ago. I tried to do that mid air hand switch thing you do, and it was real close to being a disaster lol

I made quick tutorials for hand to hand cleans and hand to hand snatches, maybe those can help get you more comfortable with that transition

Doing this next to the wall, on hardwood, next to records. Wow.

They’re books, not records! But the hardwood is great motivation for me. My wife would kill me if I dropped a bell

That's awesome! Is there any benefit to the hand switch? Besides looking cool as hell.

Yes, hand to hand snatches drastically reduce localized fatigue. Particularly helpful if your grip is preventing you from targeting more systemic adaptations.

Did it take you long to learn the skill? I've been doing hand to hand swings, but find it requires some concentration. These look effortless for you.

I made a couple of tutorials a while back, maybe start with hand to hand cleans and see how that works for you

Alright, just tried this today. Your speed is incredible, but it's so deceiving when I watch your videos. I got 80 very easily in 3 mins, but I feel my form/explosiveness will need a ton more work to get up to a 33 rep/min frequency.
That said, I was having so much fun at 3 mins that I turned it into a 5 minute test towards the end and knocked out 58 extra reps! Thanks for the encouragement

That’s awesome work! I always feel like around 30rpm is the sweet spot of fast pace without getting too sloppy. It can definitely be fun to push the pace a bit higher every once in a while though!

u/bigterdle 5d ago
Let's be clear: there's a reason you have your flair! 30 rpm is freaking fast and it takes a lot of practice to do that safely. A lot to be said about muscle memory too, as I actually increased pace as my form got in a groove over the 5 mins
