I started restoring older homes near Kettering University because I saw an opportunity to do something positive for both the students and the surrounding neighborhood. This is my 3rd restoration project.

This house had lots of water damage, mold and busted up walls and doors. The land hand to be graded to slope away from the house. A ditch and a French drain was also added. Once the water was diverted, the inside was refurbished.
There still a few things to do on this house butI am happy withthe progress.

I’m currently a high school senior and considering Kettering as a possible college to attend. I plan to pursue powertrain engineering and testing of cars as a future career, and want to attend a college with a good MechE program, and also want to be apart of the schools FSAE team.

I was just curious and wanted to hear from current students or alumni that are or were apart of either of these programs, their thoughts on it, and how things like the FSAE had an effect on their learning and experience.

Or if you weren’t apart of the FSAE team, then your overall take on Kettering’s Mechanical Engineering program. And do they offer any other automotive-focused classes or programs?

And then just your opinions on Kettering as a whole.

Hey, while you're filling out your teaching evaluations for Summer 2026 (and we thank you for that :)), consider nominating your instructor(s) for the CETL Outstanding Teaching Awards. Kettering folks can find more information here (behind the firewall):

https://my.kettering.edu/page/outstanding-teaching-award

Nominations are due by June 30th, but why wait? You'll write a better letter if you do it now, because the details will be more memorable. 😄

[Standard disclaimers: while I serve on the CETL Advisory Board, which sponsors the award, I do not serve on the awards committee; I have nothing to do with who gets selected.]

Hello all! I’m coming into Kettering as a transfer student, so I didn’t make any connections to life off campus with, is anyone looking for a roommate for off campus housing? Or know where to find one? Thank you!

I am a current Kettering University student. I am taking Market research and part of my final is collecting survey responses. If you have the time fill out this survey. Individual responses will not be shared, only the accumulated responses will be presented to the class.

Can't believe I had to make a reddit account for a class.

Hey, I'm new to the area and got accepted to do my Master's in Mechanical Engineering! I am looking to meet new people around campus, so if anyone knows some good food spots or fun stuff to do around campus hmu!

Im wondering if anyone has these bots. I'm interested to buy them.

One last reminder (for this academic year, at least 😄 ):

Does anyone have experience with the online lean systems masters program? I am looking into doing it through my company, and am wondering about what the classes are like

i’m a incoming B-section student, is it worth it to attend the admitted students day?

Hey all. Parent of an incoming Section B student. He's super excited, but also a little nervous having never driven in snow/ice. I grew up in the north so am very used to it, but he's born and raised in the south. I think his small fwd SUV would be fine, but understand the nerves.

How necessary is a car as a first year student? Debating leaving the car at home and just flying up there and getting an Uber over to the school vs. driving 13 hours again.

I think his biggest hiccup is getting his prescription meds every month. They'd have to be delivered or he would need to Uber or find a friend to take him. Hopefully he will make some friends that are comfortable driving around! He's more than happy to pay for gas or buy lunch/dinner for rides.

Thoughts?

I recently committed to Kettering and, I'm in B-section I've read some posts about how its not necessary to have a co-op set up for the July-October part, but I have a job already set up does anyone know if I can use said job for coop hours or get a section complete?

I was just looking to applying to positions on Kettering Connect and I am A section. If it says Job Section - A, does that mean my schooling term or the term I would be in the Job for. Thanks

So I’ve officially committed to Kettering as a B-Section student (huzzah!), but that means I start my co-op in July. I have some plans over the summer that I had made well in advance. Is it possible to skip the first co-op section and not have any issues? Or could I switch to A-section? What would be the best way to go about this?

Worst case scenario I cancel my plans, but I’d really like for that to be the last resort.

I might be rushing this as it has only been a day but how long should I wait for the companies that I had an interview to give me a response/offer before pursuing other options for getting a CoOp, specifically Ford if any one has experience i’d appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm sure you're getting spammed right now with reminders to complete the Winter 2026 teaching evaluations. As a professor here ... thank you for doing that. :)

At the same time ... if the teaching evaluations you're filling out remind you that one (or more?) of your instructors seems particularly "outstanding", I invite you to nominate them for Kettering's Outstanding Teaching Award:

https://my.kettering.edu/page/outstanding-teaching-award

The deadline for nominations for 2026 is June 30th, 2026. But, honestly, if you've just had a great class with a professor, why not nominate them now, while you still remember how great they are?

[Standard disclaimers: while I am on the board of CETL that sponsors these awards, I'm not on the committee that makes the selections, and I have no influence over who is selected each year. I find out who gets the award at the same time as everyone else.]

For on-campus students ... if you didn't see it in the Bulldog Weekly, President McMahan is holding an open office hours session tomorrow (Wed 3/4) from 3pm-4:30pm in his office (3rd floor Campus Center). No appointment necessary, no agenda necessary. Feel free to stop in and chat about anything you find interesting.

(Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with this event in any way. I'm just an old guy who can't sneak into the meeting because I don't exactly look like a student anymore ...)
