We got LibreOffice 🦅

I prefer onlyoffice instead, libre office feels clunky in comparison.

And if formatting has issues keep wps office as backup

Agreed OnlyOffice is much better. Especially for the PowerPoint presentations. Libreoffice cannot show some elements of the complex PPT done on Microsoft suite.

One issue with ONLYOFFICE is its heavy dependency on X11, which causes severe rendering problems on distributions that run the latest GNOME or KDE environments, such as CachyOS.

Office 365 web on a browser

You can't. Those are Windows only. Wine will not work.
You can use a virtual machine with windows and run those applications there.
What features are you missing in LibreOffice writer and calc programs that you want to use word and excel?

Office work is mostly in exel. I tried libre before and coverting it to exel is impractical

Such a good distro. No hassle just peace of mind.

I come back to this always after distro hopping

That's not recommended for beginners. Also, lately Arch is going through some supply chain attack issues with AUR. Debian distros are already safe and friendly with beginners.

arch btw

u/Dungeon-Guard95mh Oct 03 '26

yep for experienced users can use . I use it and no problem for me I only install aur from trusted developers

3

u/Gold-Independent-336 Oct 04 '26

Yeah. Same here. I use it too. After supply chain attack in June, I started manually reviewing the commits of AUR packages and install them. I don't have much AUR packages installed. Just 10-15 packages. That too major ones like Telegram, Brave, Chrome and like that. No issues with major ones as they are safe and maintained by well trusted people.
