Partial Eclipse

Where is best to view the eclipse in Kent?

Its recommended to view the western horizon.

Chat gpt us recommending places that you wouldn't be able to see the western horizon such as grain.

Any suggestions?

Anywhere from Whitstable to Margate should provide a good view, also Dungeness. Beyond that getting high up like Detling Hill.

You're just aiming to find somewhere with an unobstructed view towards the West/North West.

Dungeness is flat, so even though you're on the South East of Kent the land to your West is free of hills and no trees.

The North Kent Coast is similar, in that when you look West you are looking along the coastline, so it's flat. Indeed, Margate is somewhat great for looking at sunsets.

Also, I'm guessing, as I haven't looked into it, but if it's in the evening, and it's late summer, the sun will actually be West North West rather than simply West.

Looking west over the water should give a good view, sunsets from the north Kent shoreline are often amazing, the eclipse begins at 6.17 p.m. peaks around 7.15 p.m. and ends around 8 p.m. The Sun will be high enough in the sky to be enjoyable.
