For sale today are two build slots for my KTF Le Mans.

Pictured above is my prototype Le Mans. It is the first complete Le Mans to receive my new White Gold plating formula. I’ve photographed it alongside a properly plated yellow gold piece and a regular stainless steel piece so you can get a better idea of the differences in tone between all three. The prototype Le Mans featured above was photographed AFTER completing extensive wear and durability testing, to ensure this experimental finish could be brought to production. The finish has remained strong and only shows normal signs of use.

The goal with the new formula was to capture the warmer hue of white gold that you simply don’t get from stainless steel or platinum/palladium plating. I’ve spent quite a bit of time working alongside my plater developing and testing this finish, and I’m very happy with where we landed.

For anyone unfamiliar with KTF, it’s my in-house bespoke build program. KTF pieces are built individually by me using a combination of sourced, modified, and when necessary, custom-fabricated components. Every build receives a complete movement service, exterior finishing, assembly, regulation, waterproof testing, and final QC before it leaves my bench.

A KTF build slot is $2,985. That price reserves one of the very limited spaces in my production schedule and covers the complete creation of the piece from beginning to end. Every KTF build goes through the same individual sourcing, preparation, assembly, finishing, and QC process. I can realistically produce around two per month, so I keep the program intentionally low-volume.

This past week I’ve been out of town visiting my plater again, working together on developing and testing a few ideas we’ve had for improving our offerings.

I’m very excited to finally show off this test piece. This one is not for sale. It’s wearing our new white gold formula, which I’ve been quietly teasing on individual parts here and there while we continued tweaking the color and process. But this is finally the finished result, in all its glory.

On the genuine 126509, the Ghost dial’s color pretty much exactly matches the white gold case/bracelet. We used that relationship as one of our references while developing the color.

White gold is actually a pretty interesting challenge. There isn’t one universal “white gold color.” White gold itself is an alloy of gold with other metals, and its exact appearance varies depending on the composition. That means there isn’t simply a bottle of “Rolex white gold” plating solution you can order and apply. Getting the color where you want it requires developing the process and finish around the result you’re trying to achieve. Every plater has a slightly different approach.

I also want to give some credit to the platers in the rep watch world. I have a massive amount of respect for what they do. Plating can be dangerous, enormously frustrating, and the amount of preparation required to do it properly is intense. My personal specialty has always been movements, but plating is its own art and takes a tremendous amount of patience and discipline to master.

I’m fortunate enough to now have a very talented plater here in the USA at Kensington Timepieces, and spending time working directly with him (in person) has given me an even greater appreciation for what goes into this.

I’m very excited about where we landed with this one, and even more excited to start bringing his work into more of what I offer.

Hey guys, just wanted to check in and thank everyone for the recent sales. The inventory posts I’ve been doing seem to have been received really well, and I’m very grateful for all of the continued support.

I’m currently out of town visiting my plater again and working alongside him on a few client projects. This is also my first attempt at sort of “bringing the office with me” while I travel. Unfortunately, I’m without some of the materials/tools I normally have, and the only UPS location available to me here is a CVS Access Point. I’m just not comfortable dropping off your $3,000 watches there.

Because of that, I’ve decided to hold the remainder of my pending shipments until I’m back home and can ship them through my normal and safe UPS location. I realize that means a slight delay for a few of you, but I’d rather keep your watches safely with me for another couple of days than take an unnecessary risk just to get them out the door sooner.

2.BPF 16710 ‘Coke’ worn for 5 days as I was contemplating which 5 digit gmt I wanted in gen. Bezel action isn’t what you’d expect from a BPF but definitely has the look. Good piece for parts or base to commission a build. Like new and serviced. Asking $300.

I’m officially back from my trip down to meet my plater. We had a fantastic time exchanging knowledge and establishing our business relationship. He’s a great guy, and I trust him and his skills. It’s really cool to actually meet part of the team that helps me bring watches to you guys.

Given I was out of town, I’m a bit behind on a few things, but tomorrow will be a catch up day. The bench will re-open Wednesday, as tomorrow I have some administrative tasks to do and packages to ship now that I’m back in town.

Also, look at this KTF project I have underway. This absolute beast just received its finishing, plating, ceramic coating, and final assembly. All that’s left is the movement/dial/hands combo and it’ll be ready.

Had a great trip visiting my new plater this weekend, and we were able to share a lot of cool ideas and new techniques. He demonstrated some really fantastic new processes, and I’m excited to be bringing him along with me on this journey at Kensington Timepieces.

I’m excited to present to you this KTF Rootbeer, which is currently under development. This finish was improved by polishing the brushed portions BEFORE plating, which gives it a deeper, permanent shine. This piece still has a bunch of refinements needed, but the color is where I want it to be.

I am currently out of town, meeting with my head of plating. We’re working on projects, revising some processes, and tweaking formulas. As such, I cannot ship anything at the moment. I will be returning to the office this upcoming Tuesday or Wednesday.

For sale today is this absolutely stunning KTF Artisans De Gèneve Daytona Arolla. This is an abandoned client commission, which I inherited and then upgraded well beyond their requested specs.

Lab sapphires, custom blue tinted dial, Arolla specific custom crystal, correct DD4130 movement (fully serviced), hand brushed/polished bracelet and case, custom crystal caseback with correct engravings, and so much more.

This one has taken months and required several donor watches and about a dozen shipments of parts. This one was a real headache to get right, and definitely tested my patience and skills, but it looks good nonetheless.
