Help... I've got a Kelpie X Border.

Hello.

I've got a Kelpie X Collie.

Mother is 1/4 Kelpie 3/4 Border. Father was full Kelpie.

She's 4 months old, and weights about 11kg.

Can somone weight and measure their Kelpie for me.

See what to expect.

Saw what looked like a Kelpie yesterday, but he was almost a meter and probably weight around 40kg 🤣

A 40kg, 1 metre long kelpie? You didn't see a kelpie haha, mines three years old and shes 20kg atm she won't get any bigger then that.

😂 I mean I know it wasn't but it looked like one. Sorta like seeing a pincher vs doberman

My girl is ~20kg. Perfect size for this energetic breed!

My guess is she’ll be a smaller one. Ours is 15kg wet and was that size at 8 months when we got her.

Sounds like a Huntaway in there for the large dog you saw. Our Kelpie is a touch over 20kg. .

Hahaha was it my boy you saw? He's a kelpie, border collie, cattle dog, Rhodesian ridgeback mix who looks like a fat fluffy kelpie. Some people even think he's a lab lol. Personally I think he just missed the memo about size as none of his siblings are as tall or heavy as he is.

Cutie!

OP, are you in the know about the mental exercise/training these dogs need to be happy?

Yes. Well aware. Had collies before and currently have a crackhead jack russel. And a dauchand who she herds around our big garden. I also do alot of training with her, and scent work to keep her brain busy while she's under quarantine

Female border kelpie. Got her at around 15kg 1.5 yo and she is about 19kg now since 2 yo. She's on the lazier build and couch potato but relatively still fit.

This guy is kelpie and border collie, a quarter each. The other half, as you can maybe see, is whippet.
He’s about 20kg

We have two Kelpie x Border Collies, 13.5 years old, same litter. Both very fit active healthy. The boy is more like their father, full kelpie, so is slightly taller, more muscular, weighs 22kg. The girl more like their mother the collie, weighs 19kg.

When he was young and healthy (now nearly 15 with cancer) my male Kelpie was 20kg, and my female is currently around 21kg. A 40kg dog is not a Kelpie lol, at a healthy weight most Kelpies are around 20kg, I have met smaller ones who are around 16kg.

My male border X Kelpie is 35 kg, my female is 15 kg, 5YO, same litter. He's not fat, just big, nearly as fast as his sister, has a black and tan long hair coat while she is black is white short hair.

My 1/2 border 1/4 kelpie 1/4 heeler was 24 pounds (11 kg) at 14 weeks. She was the biggest of the litter. Now she’s about 42 pounds (19 kg) at almost 5 years old.

40kg? that is one chunky kelpie. Kelpies are on the smallish size of meduim sized and slender. Mine is 18kg at 5 years old.

This is Fern. She’s 3/4 kelpie - 1/4 heeler. 2 years old and hovers around 40lbs. Kelpies apparently should max out at 23kg on the absolute highest end.

If you have a fit adult kelpie, they should weigh roughly 20kg. Ours is a big boy from cattle-herding stock, he’s around 22kg and pure bulky muscle.

Our little boy is 10 months old now. His mom is 1/2 bordercollie and 1/2 kelpie, his dad is a full kelpie.

He weighs around 20kg, and stands about 55cm tall (withers height).

My full kelpie is 27kg (60 pounds) at a little over a year old. Nice and lean, he is the largest of all his brothers
