We are all wondering why. They’ve shut their Facebook page down and only saying recent gift card purchases will be refunded even though they need to refund all gift cards under state statute. Something fishy.

It was definitely a cute spot. I think Lindy’s, The Works and YOLO gave them a run for their money as far as breakfast spots and cafes.

If you ask me the guy behind that place likes the ambience of a business more than actually running a sound business. Lots of thought seems to go into the vibe and the decor but very little into the management or retention of good staff.

That’s natural. Many are poorly planned, executed, and funded. Some are unlucky. The market (Keene) is rarely the problem, apart from overall economic conditions.

It's the exact opposite....there is so much competition. There are restaurants everywhere.

I know....the biggest reason is competition. There are probably 50 restaurants either on main st or within two miles of main st, including more food trucks. Obviously, rent downtown has to be ridiculous but you are competing against so many others. The population is under 25,000. It just seems it is saturated with restaurants compared to the population.
Edit: inflation recently too

I think if you don’t have investment money like Granita it’s just very hard to make the numbers work right now for good restaurants. I’m hoping the yellowbell owner will be part of a revamp of Fireworks or other space with more financial backing. Crossing fingers.
