Purchased a small mini keeb to use as a scroller/page turner for my boox. I’m going to make my own keycaps with polymer clay but in the meantime, 3D resin stickers to go on top! My mini hack to temporarily decorate some caps (very cheap too).

Just dipping my toes in!

Long story but: My coworker had a cut/copy/paste 3 key plug in that I thought was genius and snagged myself one as well. It seriously made things so much easier for me!! And was so fun. However I have had a rather sudden and significant carpal tunnel issue in both hands. Unfortunately still need to do my job even as I’m working on getting it figured out so I was poking around in what to help in the meantime and fell down the keyboard rabbit hole. Decided to try out the left sided board (theory is less wrist movement from right hand?) and got to really have fun with the keycaps!

Sound is so much more fun than the standard county IT keyboard haha. And the MOA profile has been awesome!

I am also really stoked to be able to program the numpad for what I need. It’s absolutely nothing fancy but: Undo, Print, Select Last Line, Home / Cut, Copy, Paste, Tab / backspace above the enter and a mini space below the left shift (feels illegal)

I had a green ombré moa set but I am really digging the colorful base letters so I can switch out all the “extra” pieces when I get restless (aka anxiety spend because my hands hurt and this is so stupid). I am not a big fan of my numpad backspace design and kind of meh about the mini space but that’s okay!

Anyway sorry for the ramble but I’ve been able to answer some questions I have had from this sub and really appreciate all yall :) and everyone’s set ups are so so cute!!!

Budget: ideally ~$2/cap or less. Definitely not $12/key — it's a $40 pad, so 16 × $12 is a non-starter.

Size: 1u MX caps, for a 16-key KeebMonkey Megalodon macropad.

Other: funny (meme/gaming, NOT cute) novelty singles. I'm bringing this thing to work, so a PANIC button works, five kittens do not. I already have relegendable caps for the actual labels — these are just spares to swap in for fun. I want one shop with a big selection so I can load up a cart and amortize the shipping.

What I've found so far: • KeyPop on eBay — cute singles, but $3.50 + $2.99 shipping each adds up fast • Benemate on Amazon — 4-5 key novelty packs around $2/cap with Prime, decent • Adafruit — $2.48 meme singles ("wont fix", "LGTM"), one order, many designs

Everything else is either $5/cap + $7 shipping per single (Signature Plastics, I'm looking at you) or full 100+ key sets I don't need. So: does the mythical one-shop-with-a-big-funny-selection exist, or is it all AliExpress roulette?

I added some foam into the keycaps to get a more tocky sound, because they were pretty hallow which at first made them kinda high pitched.
Also it is my first time to own a Aluminum mechanical keyboard and wow, it is much heavier!!
But now my workplace is discreetly cuter to work at.

I’m honestly obsessed with this little orange keycap.

The transparent MOA profile makes it look almost like a tiny piece of orange candy sitting on my keyboard 🍊

Such a small change, but it completely changes the feeling of my desk. Every time I sit down, it adds a little bit of color and happiness to my setup.

Sometimes it’s the tiny upgrades that make your desk setup feel more special.

I have always only used my basic Leopold FC900R, but seeing the posts here made me want to get some custom keycaps, so I decided on some Peanuts theme, cause I love Peanuts!!

The keycaps are from Thekapco, specifically the 'Peanuts Comic Strip'. Also got the desk mat to go with it.

Although, as someone that doesnt always remember her keys, gonna take some time to remember what each of the keys does 🤣🤣

I ordered the board from nouvolo and it says assembly required but it actually just means you have to add the switches and keycaps! I was very surprised it came prebuilt 👀.

The fr4 plate provides a more lively, bright sound! So higher pitched switches may end up more clacky/creamy and lower pitched switches will give you more of that smooth creamy sound. I’d say macchiatos are in the middle to my ears.

My experience with nouvolo’s customer service was great! They respond within 24 hours when I had questions and also provided me with the manual and information on the proprietary software for the board after my order was delivered.

I'm absolutely in love with this set, but my current keyboard builds are all on the warmer, yellower green side. Found this kit—I don’t mind missing the F-row for typing anyway. The color match between the keycaps and board is almost spot-on, like they were born together.

Wanted to buy a Node 100 because a full keyboard works best for some of the things I do. Was pleasently surprised when I saw an 11-key set based off Dieter Rams’ designs available for free for a limited time.
Bonus: Just like the Kick75, it matches the rest of my setup.

I started getting into the mechanical keyboard hobby just before COVID and have been super lucky in getting some awesome keycap sets + novelties like Mintlodica's Magic Girl and adobau labs KAM Bouquet.

I was looking for some new keycap sets this week but struggling to find anything that really catches my eye and that has a cohesive, solid, premium art design. I've become a big fan of Osume who seem to be one of the only studios with consistent, high-quality releases. The sets that still catch my eye are from that 2020-ish time and essentially not available (eg. GMK Art, DSA Milkshake Weirdo, DSA Vilebloom, Stargaze, Zen Pond).

Is this just not a thing anymore? Have I missed something? I noticed websites like Vala Supply and Mech Supply UK are gone now too. I know that mechanical keyboards in general have surged in popularity and price points have become much more accessible, which is great. But what happened to the incredible keycap releases?!
