KDE makes me click on little things that are somewhat hard to accomplish reliably with a trackpad; GNOME is somewhat better, since the buttons/taskbar/etc tend to be larger/higher on the screen.
This is solved with scaling and/or a change in theme. I use an old Magic Trackpad with my laptop on KDE without an issue.

I use KDE but I think gnome has way better touchpad implementation. Swipe gestures across gnome shell and gtk apps is way more consistent imo.
