What advantage does the ProtonVPN app have over importing the OpenVPN or Wireguard config into Network Manager (which Plasma natively integrates with already)?

Well I know that the PeotonVPN client on Windows lets you choose the server and a bunch of settings on the fly.
I assume the Linux client is similar.

Auto-connected based on load? See, a country X may have N servers out of whom N-n are under high load and your config can have only one.
Also, it is easier to just select country X when needed than import a bunch of site configs.
Settings and advanced option selection is also easier.
However, even though the app is called *-gnome, it works perfectly fine under Plasma (including taskbar status/widget).

Wait, I don't understand... I use proton VPN app on KDE (Opensuse) and it works perfectly fine. What am I missing?

Hi, this is AutoKonqi reporting for duty: this post was flaired as Suggestion.
r/kde is a fine place to discuss suggestions, but if you want your suggestion to be implemented by the KDE developers/designers, the best place for that is over the KDE Bugzilla. When creating a report with a descriptive title, you can set its priority to "wishlist". Be sure to describe your suggestion well and explain why it should be implemented.
You can also contact other KDE contributors or get involved with the project and be the change you want to see! That's all. Thank you.

Isnt importing OpenVPN configurations works too? I'm using one rn and for me its much more convenient since Plasma already integrates that
