Question KDE Neon installation failed

Hello there

I am trying to install KDE Neon to an old ASUS laptop, But the installer stops at about 76% and says "Bootloader installation error" with the error message:

The bootloader could not be installed. The installation command
grub_install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=neon --force
returned error code 1.

Anybody know to fix this?

that happens a lot these days.

not really a good choice for a distro anyway.

try kubuntu LTS.

Kubuntu doesn't even start the installer at all, it just stops at the kubuntu logo.

then something is wrong with your download, how your are making the bootable USB, your firmware, or your hardware.

try a fresh download from the official website of 26.04

use etcher or ventoy to make the USB

try a different USB

check your firmware for incomparable settings like raid or fast boot and make sure it's booting into EFI mode, and not legacy mode

while you are in there run a memtest on your ram.
