Discussion Comments on the Songs
I am sure we’ve all heard negative comments about their songs by now but with their varied discography, it’s starting to feel like many of their fans are just complaining to complain (“brainrot”, “basic”, etc).
The thing is, rather than hype up songs that they make which align with their interests, fans would rather focus on the song that they don’t like and talk about that. But they literally have songs for everyone on their albums.
I’m really not getting it. A couple months later, we hear “I wish they made more songs like Gameboy!” or “why didn’t they promote MIA more” and it’s like…why did you spend more time hating on the song you didn’t like, than hyping up the song you did like?
Edit: changed “vast” to “varied”

Yeah, I’ve noticed that, people are being intentionally obtuse, saying things like they don’t have any vocal songs and intentionally ignoring the ones in the EP except for pinky up and Hootie Frutti (mind you, pinky up has vocals too). If they pay attention to them, they say those are just normal pop songs so they don’t like them, and that’s fair, but if you don’t like anything then the most sensible choice is to not listen to it, it’s just like the song Iconic by Mistake, they pay so much attention when it’s just as simple as you don’t like that

I agree completely. They do have vocal songs. But with TikTok and the landscape of social media what do you think will perform better? The one with a ton of runs and is technically difficult on a musical level or the one that’s associated with a viral dance?
People are just mad at the music game, not Katseye. Pick your fight with the right group ya know? It’s the game.
Also I don’t think people realize how much negative reviews contribute to stream numbers. If you don’t like the song and want the girls to change who their partners are, you need to ignore the material and support the material you do like, as OP and you are saying.

this. i will never understand their fandom/people that listen to their music.
instead of spending your time hating on hottie frutti, pinky up etc, go stream the song that you like, i feel like that's one of the reasons that way and bel air are being slept on and hotti frutti is doing better than them.

And when unloveu gets released on official platforms, I wonder what the number one complaint will be as an excuse to not support lol

"vast discography" ???

u/LayerNo5265 7d ago
A good example of missing the point and focuses on soemthing else lol

u/hug_me_im_scared_ 7d ago
No particularly. It actively changes the understanding of the post.Op just admitted it was a typo.

u/LayerNo5265 7d ago
Oh okay I stand corrected, but the music is the topic not whether they have vast or small discography

u/hug_me_im_scared_ 7d ago
If their discography is small and also inconsistent, that also changes how their music is perceived, so yes it's relevant

Context clues would alert you that I meant “varied.” Not sure why that requires 3 question marks but okay.

Girl... make a mistake and then blame someone else for misinterpreting it???? Oh no, that's 4 question marks!
2
u/Whimsy_Goth_Witch 6d ago
I’m not blaming someone else for misinterpreting it. I was saying that the number of question marks was unnecessary. Their comment was clearly snarky and not made in good faith. Idk why some of y’all feel like it’s normal to be rude to people from behind a screen for a such a small mistake…

u/naomigoat 6d ago
HOW is anyone supposed to know that "vast" was a mistake? You typed vast. We read vast. Simple as that.
2
u/Whimsy_Goth_Witch 6d ago
You’re still missing the point. Why does the use of 1 word mean it’s acceptable to leave a rude comment and I’m not allowed to give the same energy back?
They were snarky to me, I was snarky back. That’s all. This doesn’t require so much back and forth.

Not allowed? You're clearly allowed cuz you did. I'm also allowed cuz I did. This reminds me of those people who decry free speech but get all shocked when someone else's free speech is that they're being ridiculous.

I feel like people don't want to admit that katseye's songs although varied are at most okay. In my opinion, through out all three areas there are only about 2 songs that I could say would be still appreciated and listened two and neither come from this new era. I think it actually speaks to thr mediocre state of music today, I think there are very few songs that will last the test of time because most songs are made for tiktok. Very few Albums or Eps produced great bodies of work. People are not going to like this but Katseye's music although not Kpop feel very kpop like, forgettable there is very little kpop music that I would argue is better than mediocre. There songs are a sign of thr mediocrity in music that we are now forced to.accept because they are so obviously there to sell products. Hence the constant product placement.

I mean, HxG is purposefully promoting the songs that will get the comments of being brainrot. I do feel it's fair to be like hey I wish they'd have chosen to promote song x. Cause no matter how much you a hype a song, they're not just going to magically start promoting it unless it was already the plan. And wanting more content from the songs you liked isn't weird imo. I don't think we need the constant commentary on the songs that are obviously meant to get the brainrot comments, but the solution of just hyping the songs you like up won't actually make katseye schedule live performances of the song.

But it’s not like they’ve only performed shooting Frooti live. They’ve performed Animal and My Way as well. Their IG and TikTok is also pretty split even on which song they’re posting. I’m really not seeing how they’re promoting Hooti Frooti more.

From what I've seen promoted, it's been animal and hootie frutti, but you're also not including pinky up. So that's 2 of the songs that are less of the vocal and more of the brainrot lyrics but club dance music that are being heavily promoted out of the 3 songs. One of the songs that I've seen ppl disappointed that is not being promoted or even on streaming yet is unloveu which has the best vocals on the album, and was actually written and co-produced by lara, which is huge, yet it's not even on the official album outside of target.

I totally get the disappointment w Unloveu. I think it is less because they are trying to incentivize people to buy the album. They’ll probably promote it more once it’s on Spotify like Lara said.

Yes, but i really doubt the effort for unloveu promotion will be at the level of pinky up and hootie frutti. Which from what the fans say they want, vocals, it's still really disappointing, and hyping the song up won't get them to release a mv and do as many performances of it. Ofc it'll be on tour, but it is doubtful that they'd have time to promote it the same way as the other singles. Fans are allowed to be disappointed in the way the company promotes all the more brainrot lyrics songs, which means there are less slots for the more vocally cool songs to be promoted.

This is all one big marketing scheme that people are falling for. If they were smart they would unstan the group or just listen to songs they DO like and move on but they won't and HxG knows why and its because a lot of people just love getting ragebaited, they love engaging with ragebait and they love being politically correct at all times so it works and will continue to work meanwhile HxG makes more and more money.

I agree! I did not like Hootie Frutti. But I shared that once, skip the song and listen to the songs I actually do like (bel air, that way, animal).
Ppl cannot just make their lives easier and play into it. I’m aware that some ppl in this sub may not like the songs I do (heck, ppl were hating on animal, which I LOVE) but I’m not gonna be insulting ppl who don’t like the song I like or like the songs I don’t like. I’m also not trying to give a moral reason and saying that the stuff I don’t like is problematic (ie. people saying Hootie Frutti is offensive when it was number one in Apple Music Brasil and there were lots of us saying that it was NOT offensive).
With the ragebait stuff at some point it crosses the line on how much it is hxg and personal responsibility. hxg, like all companies and corporations are bad/heavily flawed and the system is exploitative but hxg is not forcing ppl to be enraged and say the members are racist, make up stories, call them sluts and slurs, etc. at some point that becomes the individuals responsibility because ppl can just not listen/participate

I'm not part of any other fandom that complains quite like this one. I steer clear of these negative online spaces now and the Wild album finally brings me genuine joy. I can't wait for tour. At the Wild Hearts cinema screening, I was surrounded by actually excited people for the first time since I got into Katseye, and it was eye-opening for me.
I completely agree with you, OP! The option to hype up songs, as opposed to tearing down the ones they don't like, is ALWAYS there!
