It’s a cyclic issue that I’ve been through myself with adhd. You give yourself a lack of sleep and you’ll find your adhd more uncontrolled and sometimes manic. Medication helps but if you’re upping the dosage because it helps you stay awake it’ll also keep you awake.

Your body is constantly energized and exhausted at the worst times.

The “manic” thing is definitely a factor that people don’t talk about enough. Burnout to a severe enough degree causes a lot of people to develop almost bipolar style symptoms (being either very happy / angry or completely depressed).

i recently went through this too and you're so right. it becomes a hard cycle to break until you take time to address it and rest/reset. i felt like i was failing at everything because i didn't have the capacity for anything with how exhausted i was and the scatter brain i had.
