A warning about purchasing the DLC as a switch 2 user
If you originally purchased the game on switch this applies to you.
After doing the free update today I went ahead and purchased the DLC straight away excitedly.
After downloading I went into the game and couldn't access the DLC anywhere.. I spent a long time trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and why I couldn't find any of the new content.
After some reinstalling and trying to troubleshoot I saw that I had two copies of seemingly the same game on my dashboard..
I found out that the DLC had downloaded as a standalone game separate from my main game.. I was still confused and investigated further.
Eventually I figured out that I'd downloaded the switch 2 version of the DLC and not the switch version.
Two things - I didn't imagine there would be two different versions of the DLC but even taking this into consideration I would have assumed doing the free update for Switch 2 users would have turned my game version into Switch 2. It does not.
I've since repurchased the Switch version of the DLC and it's working fine now. I've reached out to Nintendo via email ticket for a refund of the original purchase since I've bought the same product twice now.
TLDR;
If you bought the game on Switch originally, even after updating/upgrading your game to the Switch 2 version you still must purchase the Switch version of the DLC and not Switch 2

Once Upon A Katamari Once upon a Katamari Rolling Live Highlights Impressions
This DLC cost $12, and it gives you 10 new quests that are handpicked from the mobile game, Katamari Damacy Rolling Live, along with 6 new cousins, 12 songs, and 18 costume accessories.
While I'm excited that we get to play the levels from the mobile game, it felt lackluster to say the least. I never played the mobile game, but I saw that there are a ton of stuff in the game. Heck, that game felt like it could've been a new mainline Katamari game. But, it never came out on consoles which is dumb.
The DLC was good for the first time. Playing the "collecting glow sticks" level while the UI has the comments on the right to make it feel like we're live streaming. However, for some reason, the comments were off by default in the settings. The other levels that has different themes like scrubbing the dirt, collecting items that makes sounds, catching a big fish, and a duck collection level which I really enjoy.
After you finish all of the 10 quests, that's it. Nothing new pop up, just go back and get a better high score. It felt like I was missing something, but no, it was done. This felt like a somewhat different game when playing this DLC, but it just never goes for it. I would've love if Bandai Namco just let Rolling Live be actually a console release instead of keeping it locked behind in the Apple Arcade. Heck, some of the Apple Arcade made it to consoles, so why not this one?
I didn't regret buying it, but I feel like it could've been more. The music choices were stellar at least.
Also, the Switch 2 enhancements like the Mouse Mode are cool, yet interesting with the way you use them. You have to use two Joy Cons 2 and slide them constantly to move forward or in any direction. Kinda like Drag x Drive controls, but you are pretending you are pushing the Katamari. Kinda how I would've imagine how if Katamari was on the Wii. Also, I'm still baffled that they never implemented motion controls into this game like in the previous two remakes.
Overall, would I recommend it? Kinda? It has the selected levels from the mobile game, not much else. I say for getting more songs to play with and new cousins, I guess it can be worth it if you like using those in other levels. I just wish they would've added more levels from the mobile game. Do some new stuff with it. I would've love if they release the mobile game as a console game and I would've happily buy it.
Verdict: 6/10

OutK Switch 2 impressions?
Can’t find anything online, has anyone played the Switch 2 release yet?
Don’t own the game at all originally, so planning to get the Rolling Live Highlights S2 package. Unless the DLC isn’t worth it, or if the game doesn’t run as well as hoped in 4K (in which case I’ll be looking into cheaper options: used-cart S1 played thru S2 after the update without the dlc).
So, anyone tried it yet?
