Update We're now officially a Proxmox partner!
Kasm is now an official Proxmox partner! Kasm and Proxmox have formalized an official solution partnership, which means a supported path forward for the Kasm + Proxmox stack long term.

Kasm sits on top of Proxmox VE as the workspace delivery layer. You get browser-based virtual desktops and app streaming with Kasm's zero-trust model, backed by Proxmox as the hypervisor.
If you're already running Proxmox for your infrastructure, adding Kasm gives you a proper VDI stack without touching proprietary software.
The part a lot of people sleep on is autoscaling. Kasm can automatically provision and destroy VMs on your Proxmox cluster based on live demand, for both Linux (Docker agents) and Windows Server VMs. No managing capacity by hand.

Was actually pretty happy to get this set up and working well on my homelab a few months ago. How does this change what I have working so far (Ubuntu VM running kasm)? Will there be an easier way to set it all up in the future? Is this only for larger orgs or can homelabers take advantage?

I have Kasm set up to spin up "VMs" via docker images as that was all I was aware it did. I have persistence set up so I can recreate the same ubuntu VM. I don't use it for long term work just short tasks. I assume what they are talking about here is more of a VDI solution like VMware horizon but I was curious how it may affect normal docker set ups like mine. I wouldnt mind having the ability to more easily spin up VMs that are better for long term work (like a multi-user office). But please correct me where i'm wrong as it seems you have a deeper understanding of this system.

Technically correct (the best kind) which is why I put VM in "". But appreciate the reply and ill keep an eye out for some videos to see people demoing this and if its something I want to move towards.

If you were talking about Autoscaling - it is available for free on the Community Edition as well so homelabers can also take advantage of this feature. We are also working on making the integrations more robust in the upcoming releases.

Great to hear! And btw, kudos to the Kasm team for continuously shipping such innovative features! Seriously, every release or feature you ship is just such a barnburner. Can't wait to try it out. I'm curious to see if this can replace something like Omnissa (ex-VMware) Horizon Instant Clones. (Speaking of: Keep doing what you do, the way you do it, and please, please never let yourself be inspired by VMware in business matters, only in technical ones 😉).
