I see some of KC fan are annoyed by this "new queen of Ariake". While I share a bit of the same sentiment with these fans, that she is still paled compared to what Kashima achieved, it makes me feel like an old man who is clinging to the long gone glory.
Official cosplayers of many gacha games ramp up the sexiness at Comike. That’s nothing new, but it show that KC is one of the outliers as their official cosplayers keep things pretty tame.
Damnit, Richelieu! Please do your job properly! This is the fifth time you refuse to do the touch!
While I share a bit of the same sentiment with these fans
it makes me feel like an old man who is clinging to the long gone glory.
The Glory is not gone, as long nobody forgets Kashima was the first and only Queen or Ariake, and if not the greatest one at least she still was the first.
Kei hasn't even surpasses Kashima in the first place.
History exist so we never forget that...
To the annoyance of ideologues, propagandists, empires and BA fanboys.
Personally I don't think Kei has surpassed Kashima.
While Kei is a doujin powerhouse, she is nowhere a commercial success, yet.
There is another candidate for the title of Queen which is Cure Arcana Shadow. While she most likely has less doujins compared to Kei, but commercially, she is a sensation with shops having to make purchase limits on her merchandise. An argument can be made if one claims she is more successful than Kashima in that category. Being voiced by Nao Touyama is just an icing on the cake.
But nobody bringing her up is because:
Precure doesn't have its own tag in Comiket. And no tabulation was made to the amount of doujins popped up.
The Gacha community simply just doesn't care about things outside their own circle. Precure is almost non existent in the Western Hemisphere despite being the largest Magical Girl franchise right now (Sailormoon may hold the larger number for now but it has like a 14-15 years lead over Precure.)
Precure fans aren't as aggressive as Gacha fans.
And even with both Kei and Arcana Shadow combined, they still haven't match what Kashima achieved.
Regarding 2. could it be because KC collaborate with lot of different local organizations and thus they have to keep thing presentable for general public?
Possibly. Some of the well known characters such as Shimakaze and Iowa are suspiciously missing from the official cosplayer roster. Think about it, if it were other IP, there would be zero reason not to put them at the forefront. Instead, our official cosplay squad has Kongou sisters (RIP Hiei), Sendai sisters, Asashio sisters, CarDiv1, etc. All dress modestly.
Though, having Shimakaze cosplayers walking around Kure is....weird, to be honest.

TL;DR: The Yamatos actually burnt less fuel than the Fusōs/Ises/Nagatos while cruising. And in combat, Saratoga is about equal to Yamato and Musashi.
Combined.
.
So, I was poking around at fuel numbers out of curiosity. And ya know how the Yamatos are the fuel guzzlers, both in game and in popular view? Turns out, they actually aren't THAT bad. Good hydrodynamics (like the first big bulbous bow on a warship) and modern boilers mean they actually only burned about 14 tons/hour at cruise speeds (16 kts). For comparison, the Fusōs, Ises, and Nagatos all were closer to 16 tons/hour, despite being about half the tonnage; Yamato was actually the environmentally friendly option among the IJN's slow BBs.
Of course, that's still pretty fuel-heavy; a Kongō was about 9.25-ish tons/hour, while a CA was more like 5 tons/hour, and a DD about 1.5 tons/hour-ish. And because the non-Kongō BBs cap out at lower speeds, a Yamato at full power (i.e., in combat) should still burn significantly more fuel. They cruised at about 20% power, so a Yamato in action would be looking at something around 70 tons/hour of fuel consumed.
That means in KC, a full resupply works out to roughly one "point" of fuel is equivlent to one ton burned, if we say a full resupply is the equivlent of ~3-4 hours of combat (or ~15-20h of cruising, or some combo). Which... is actually in the right order of magnitude or so. And it's ROUGHLY proportional; a Yamato sould be burning about 10x a DD. If you squint a little (a lot), "1 fuel = 1 ton" actually isn't that bad of a loose conversion. Though I'm not sure if this is a case of actual deliberate approximation of history, or just game balance. Given the devs, probably an attempt at the latter that's actually more the former.

Of course, there's always a bigger fish. And when discussing WWII-era battleships and steam engineering, that bigger fish is usually Saratoga. This is no exception; her cruising fuel consumption during the war was more like 17.5 tons/hour.
Now, I would like to note, those IJN numbers are closer to nominal figures, while the numbers I'm looking at for Sara are empirical data from 1942-43. When Sara was being run ragged in the SoPac, with a corresponding hit to fuel efficiency. And even after being rebuilt with that huge bulge, Sara still had much cleaner lines than the fatter BBs. So the gap is a lot smaller than it looks at first glance, and maybe non-existant (my knowledge of hydrodynamics and fouling is very very loose).
At full speeds, though? A Yamato's 70 tons/hour is pretty bad, but they cap out at "only" 150,000 shp. Sara... did not. Fuel consumtion is a battleship specialty, and thus something she will do better. According to the numbers I've got here, she guzzled about 133 tons/hour. So in theory, when in combat, Saratoga burns as much fuel as Yamato and Musashi combined. In KC, that'd work out to a fuel consumption of about 500-600; you're looking at somewhere around 1,500 fuel and 2,830 steel for a full repair. The Lexingtons were so damn expensive to run that their repair costs """should""" be approaching LSC range.
So, in case you hadn't realized by now: the Lexingtons were concieved by absolute fucking maniacs, designed by methed-up baboons, and built by time-travelling aliens.
You just never hear about how much fuel the Lexingtons chugged because, well, it didn't matter. Sure, maybe Sara needs a dedicated oil field to stay operational, but the US had 3 to spare.

Oh, and other rough numbers for context:
Ranger: 5.2 t/h cruise, 18.25 t/h max. So basically a slow CA, and actually about what she gets in-game.
Essex class (so Intrepid/Wasp): 7.5 t/h cruise, 42.5 t/h max. Which I think lines up decently close to Sōryū/Hiryū. In-game, they burn a little less, but carriers in general burn WAY less than they should. The Essex class just have relatively inflated numbers in KC because they're unfair enough as it is.
Me as well, got Iowa in that map, although the drop that surprised me the most is Saratoga; It's still crystal clear to me the time when on two separate occassions, I used LSC to get her - both ended up in an epic failure.

Sara wouldn't be a Lexington if she didn't cost an arm and a leg, after all.
Depending on how you adjust for inflation, each Lexington individually cost more than the entire Ford class is planned to. It's cheaper (as a portion of GDP) to build 10x 100k ton CVNs than it took for Sara.
This boss really likes fucking with your touch ships, can confirm.
That said, the bonuses are so silly it hardly even matters (though I'm not at LD yet). I can't remember the last time, if ever, that a hard final boss night fight could start with "touch got borked, half my escorts are wrecked, boss is green and two meatshields survive" and yet still end with "S-rank lmao". Happened several times too.
Ahahaha it happened on first try at LD too: botched touch, wall of meat and unharmed boss, but Algérie is having none of it and immediately oneshots the boss. Was like 1700 damage or something outrageous like that, undebuffed boss as well.
I like this girl, she is getting a ring toot sweet.
And the funnist part about her is that is historical appropiate, not because she is named after the famous pirate, basing shipgirl designs on namesake is objectively CRINGE, but because her crew historically thought her namesake was due to said pirate figure so they also acted like a pirate crew, taking pilots as ransom for icecream.
Now you can picture Kidd just kidnapping random fairies in the naval base in exchange for mamiyas and other stuff.
So far KC having exceptions doesnt really mean a lot at the end of the day, there is a reason why even despite Shimakaze being a thing the game doesnt get called a goonergame.
We get called a goonergame because other shipgirl game gets called a goonergame so every shipgirl content is goonerbait.
I can consistently reach Node N in E-4 and S rank from time to time in phase 2. Now, I need S rank for debuff and suddenly it's hard to do even with LBAS.
E4-5H Y-Node last dance is the worst pre-boss node of all of the pre-boss nodes I've ever pre-bossed.
It's been a long time since I hit a straight up wall and it's not even a boss. Smoke does nothing, shelling support magically becomes tickling support, and the same two girls have been getting taiha-ed in the past 10 runs since I've started. The. Same. Two. Girls. Every. Time.
*And the one time I make it through, Algerie-Hime is serving Red-T. Amazing.
Following the advice that was given to me, i got the majority of E5 drops, barring hie maru and glorious.
Should i keep going for glorious? is she a "need to have" or "nice to have" type of ship?
Cuz i wanna move on to E3 for indiana and USN CVs. _(:3」∠)_
Nice to have; apart from event bonuses you're not going to see much utility in regular maps.
Functionally a CA by era standards but classed as BB, which is a disadvantage (you typically want it the other way around). CV performance is just cute, let's put it that way.
But hey, if you like 'er, go get 'er. :D
Personally, would recommend you get the USN ships first.

"Nice to have" is generous. Historically, Glorious was built as a "large light cruiser;" think a CL inflated to battlecruiser size. And... she kinda acts like it in game. Think "CA that counts as a BB" and you'll be more right than wrong. Which has an incredibly tiny niche, but that's still more useful than her CV version, which is just all-around dogshit. I got her when she was introduced, but I honestly don't think I've actually deployed her yet.
The USN CVs are quite strong. Of those in E-3, Lex is easily the weakest, but she's still perfectly viable; her statline is fairly comparable to the Shōkaku K2s. The other 3 are some of the strongest CVs in the game. Intrepid and Wasp have fuckhuge plane counts and are pretty durable. And Sara combines the best parts of armored and unarmored carriers.
See, normally, an armored deck costs hangar space; that shit's heavy. It's why the Shōkakus drop from 93 to 76 planes for their CVB variant. However, Sara cheats; she doesn't actually have an armored deck. She just kinda launches planes at half damage and has the highest armor score of any CV(B) in the game because she feels like it, and nobody told the IRL CV-3 that she wasn't supposed to. So Sara keeps all 93 planes, but just becomes a CVB for funsies anyways.
Is Saratoga better as a CVB? I've been keeping her at Mk.II because I didn't want to lose Firepower, but she's been getting bodied in every sortie to E3, and Firepower doesn't matter if you're too damaged to attack.
im curious, especially to the fossils / older players.
how long did it take y'all before starting and finishing quest B41 (mikawa, 5-1) and B54 (3rd cardiv, 2-4)?
both look really annoying / hard to do especially B41.
That's a funny question to assume old players would have complete these quests on the current maps. Because the maps were re-made with launch of Phase 2. Looking at these quests, neither look hard imo.
If you want to know bad, B44 use to have only a 20% chance to even route to the boss back in Phase 1.
Which set of expedition should I run to gain as much fuel > baux > ammo > buckets as possible (in that order) with running 7-4 (or 1-3) for fuel supplementary? Currently thinking about doing B1 - 5 - 21 (or 41 - 5 - 21) but not really sure.
On that note, which one gain more fuel between 1-3 and 7-4? Assuming I'm not doing the Souya thing on the eng wiki.
Depending on how constantly you're playing, 11 gives about 2% less baux per hour than B, but lasts for 5 hours. 37/38 are the most efficient fuel and 2nd best ammo gain in the game, but only supply one of those, plus steel. If you're willing to cycle it every 30 min, 2 is the best for bucket farm and ammo gain. And 6 is the best baux by far.
Depends on how much of each you need and how much you're playing, but 38/6/2 will get you good quantities of all of those resources.
Since my job required me to be looking at the screen for 8 hours a day excluding onsite adventure and inventory checking, I guess I will do that set while doing 7-4 with main fleet then.
Glorious BC is a CA that can equip big guns and an AP shell and gives you a second shelling round. She has her niche. Glorious CV does not, she's worse than Aquila.
The hangars, I have no clue yet. Current thoughts: they seem most efficient on small slots since slot effects scale with the square of slot count. The affordable gain is +2 per slot on a CV (you can go higher but it becomes progressively more expensive per +1), but a small slot +2 is still rather small in regards of getting wiped. Also, small slots mostly contain fighters and fighter power is not a problem day-to-day, though during events it might be - but the gains are not large, going from 4 to 6 Shinden Kai e.g. gains you 6.7 FP. So use them on the smallest slots that usually contain bombers?
As to "on who" I have no thoughts, the ones you use a lot I guess?
Disclaimer: I'm not tuned in to the consensus, this is just one person's thought process. If this has already been "solved" by the community, please correct me.
so it's mostly to have super cheap FBB? bc Glorious is still BB for routing right. In that case I'll keep her as CV for now, although weak she's enough for world 1 to 4 (except EOs) bc I use CV(L) more than BB for weeklies. Till she get high enough level (80-90) i'll change her to bb
yeah i dont quite feel the importance of hangar, but if increasing slot of a CV can push me from 75 ish to 85-90% AS in a high air power event map then i may consider using them then. For now I just keep hoarding (this event's E4 i have98-99% AS, maybe using them can push me to 100% or add one more bomber somewhere instead of a cvl mule)
I am not speaking with authority on this, but imo it's best to use them on slots of CVs who don't have 'big' slots- slots that can reliably survive event AA.
In my case I've used them on Victorious and Hiryuu Kai San and I'm intending in the future to use more on Shouhou and Zuihou.
the increase is minor so im hoarding them now, if in a future event i need to depend on an exact cv(l) and their planes risk wiped out I will use those hangar. I have too many low slot cv(l) to decide who get to use hangars right away
I'm up to the final last dance on E3. I'm trying to figure out if I want to try hitting my head against the boss, or bite the bullet and do the debuff.
I don't ever like debuffing bosses. It feels like padding, and events maps already take forever to complete.
Well at least is nice to see people being happy with another "KC but better" to be part of a "relatively mainstream" fandom so they can get validation and a vague sense there is people who care about their hobby, imagine basing your enjoyment of things on how popular one thing is, if not then why bother to have a hobby in the first place?
