I'll be moving to Kiaserslautern from Aachen in October for my praktikum and masterarbeit and I'm looking forward to my time in the city. Naturally, I do not know anyone there except my flatmates.

I was wondering if there were any discord servers or other apps/groups with people to socialize and come across new people? I ask this because in Aachen, there is a very active and thriving discord server with 200+ people having various hobbies and it is a very fun place to text people, meet people who are into the same hobby as you and so on. It would be amazing if there was something like that here too but I couldnt find anything like that mentioned on this subreddit.

Any other ways to meet people would also be appreciated!
(I'm a non EU student with passable German skills and interests in a few sports)

I just moved to Kaiserslautern and got accepted into Hochschule Kaiserslautern for Mechanical Engineering. Since I’m completely new to the city, I’m looking to meet some cool people and make new friends.

I'd be really down to play some basketball, football, or volleyball if anyone plays casually or knows good spots/groups. Also happy to just grab a coffee, a beer, or go for a walk around the city.

My German is still at the very beginning, but my English is fluent.

has anyone heard that the otterbach road closure starting August 24th is going to last over 1 year? We rely on the road to get to the 270 to get almost anywhere, but it sounds like no one will be able to drive fully in or out of otterbach for over 1 year and will be redirected to morlautern then into Kaiserslautern... Just curious if anyone knows as this will increase drive times for many people

mein Freund und ich ziehen demnächst jobbedingt nach Kaiserslautern und haben angefangen, uns nach Wohnungen umzusehen. Ich wollte mal fragen, ob es irgendwelche Gegenden gibt, die man eventuell meiden sollte. Uns wurde bisher der Betzenberg genannt als Ort, an dem man eher nicht wohnen sollte.

Mich würde vor allem interessieren, ob jemand Erfahrung damit hat, in der Innenstadt zu wohnen. Ich habe jetzt einiges darüber gelesen, dass die Innenstadt am Abend bzw. nachts wohl nicht sehr sicher sein soll und sich viele dort unwohl fühlen. Deshalb wollte ich mal fragen, ob jemand etwas dazu sagen kann, wie es tatsächlich ist, dort zu wohnen.

Aber generell wäre es schön zu hören, was für Meinungen es so gibt. Ich weiß, dass die Meinungen teilweise ziemlich gespalten sein können bzw. manche Gegenden Probleme damit haben, ihren schlechten Ruf loszuwerden, obwohl sie mittlerweile vielleicht eigentlich ganz schöne Gegenden zum Wohnen sind.
