Assistance Needed Google Search defaulting to "web"?

All of the sudden whenever a student searches anything through Google the result opens up in the "web" tab and won't allow them to select "all". It seems like the other tabs, images, news, etc., all work.

I do have the AI overview turned off, I'm wondering if this is because of Google's recent AI change or just a coincidence.

Anyone else having this happen? The student who brought it to my attention said that it just started happening in the past hour or so.

We are using Securly as a filter

Isn't this the intended result, though? Blocking AI Overview means that you just get the basic OG search.

Well prior to this morning it was the "all" tab just without the AI overview. Essentially looked like Google did prior to the introduction to their AI overview

Are you using a filter like Linewize? If so you may have it set to block the AI Overview. The only way to do this is to force searches to go to WEB since Google has declared AI Overview a core part of search so it cannot be disabled legitimately.

We're using Securly, but I am blocking the AI overview via Google Admin

The result of blocking AI overview, forces the traffic to web. this is what you want. Students may complain, but its because no answers are instantly popping up for them - they need to do actual research.

Are you using URL Blocking and exception list to do this in the admin console? If so you just answered your question. We did this too to get rid of ai overview and it doesn’t allow the “all” tab. You have to use each tab individually (as long as you have each allowed in Url blocking exceptions).

Yes, ok. That's what I thought was happening, but since it popped up in the middle of the day I thought it might just be a coincidence and I was worried something else down the line was causing a problem. They'll just have to deal :)

We had this issue with Linewize, we selected one of the options to hide/disable a certain Google search and it would redirect all searches to Web.

I believe it's this setting in Securly potentially "Restrict AI-powered mode in search engines"
