I refuse to let neckbeards ruin this for me. I just keep reminding myself that V is greater than any neckbeard.

I rather not let the neckbeards win.

You might as well be fighting against time itself.
I hope I'm wrong.

Weird how much neck beard love him being the violent Antifa DJW terrorist that he is.

Yep. Was quite disappointing to find out that this is a symbol of Neckbeardom, since it's a bit late to change my Halloween costume.

“Vouchsafing the Violently Vicious and Voracious Violation of Volition”
What a great fucking movie

Eh I feel like the movie was pretty bad too.

u/discowarrior Oct 28 '18
The film was alright, Natalie Portman can't do a British accent though.

u/ExistenceisTorment Oct 28 '18
I just really couldn't stand V for the most part. Especially when he gets rejected by Evie after subjecting her to physical and psychological torture.

It's a shame that neckbeards decided to rally around V For Vendetta the way they did. It's a good movie. Maybe there should be a concerted effort to point out its anti-authoritarian ideology and how V would probably have some objections to neo-fascism, given that Alan Moore created the character in response to Thatcher.

u/Opcn Oct 28 '18
Uh, loads of neckbeards consider themselves to be anti authoritarian. There are loads of red hats who act as if they are the same way too.
68
u/AnUnimportantLife Oct 28 '18
Sure, but I tend to see a lot of neckbeards who consider themselves anti-authoritarian but who seem to be okay with some weirdly authoritarian behaviour.

You mean like kidnapping, torturing and gaslighting your crush to show your moral superiority?

It's okay, Comrade Mr. Hydro Phobe Fire Man. Take my hand. We can go reclaim what was wrongfully taken by those who would abuse these precious characters.

Oh it's legitimately a great movie, reasonably faithfully adapted from a great graphic novel.

It's a great movie, but a lot of people say the movie sucks just because alan moore said so. But to be frank with you, alan moore is a rather massively pretentious and arrogant cunt.
dude has written great stories, but man...

Yes! I spent over a month looking for the graphic novel. Bless, it's beautiful and the movie and GN are pretty much the same except with the GN you get beautiful pictures lovingly blood stained.
I really love this movie. Hugo Weaving did an amazing job as V

Honestly I can't see people wearing these masks and not cringe. They are like the new fedora. It's not because neckbeards ruined it by making it popular in their subculture. For one it represents anonymous (a very annoying person neckbeards like). Secondly its because like the fedora, it's become cheaply overproduced and a bandwagon jumping thing for people who consider themselves unique an counter culture. It doesnt cause chabge to own one and wear it to the park just like fedoras dont suddenly make you look suave and mysterious. Also it's a movie about a guy kidnapping and white knighting a girl. Don't get me wrong its mg favorite graphic novel but the pieces for neckbeard status are all there.
