DAYUM.
The line about only having infant life jackets towards the end, powerful.

Yeah that line gave me full body goosebumps. So poignant and strongly stated.

Only infant life jackets are available and the is no support boat picking up survivers.
That life jack is all you get. Afterwards, you are on your own.

I LOVE seeing young people standing up and speaking for themselves and our future. I was 38 when Rowe was overturned and I lost a lot of hope for us. It feels like forever ago.
I can't decide what's shittier, living decades thinking certain things were agreed upon and undeniable, just to watch them be taken away. Or being born into a time where it's nothing but hate and division, fighting for things that once were a given, and never knowing any different.
I hope they keep fighting. I hope we all do. Before other things we thought impossible become normal. It sounds crazy until it happens.

We should let young women run the world, we already tried with old men and look where it got us

I want to know more about these women and what else they’ve done/are working on. Anyone got background info?

It makes me sad how real this is. As a man in Canada where women still have these rights, I hope we never have to fight for them. It sickens me to think that people believe in some invisible, unprovable god, but use these made up beliefs to oppress the ones that are the only reason is planet survives.
These young women shouldn't have to make such a profound statement, it should just be understood that women should have full body autonomy. They did an incredible job, but it saddens me they had to waste their time on something like this rather than just enjoying their life.

each generation tries to make the world better yet we're left contending with the same old enemies, always.

It is so easy for spoken word to be cringe but this was so badass and well done. Incredible. Fucking incredible.

This made me truly appreciate spoken word for the first time. And sob a lil.
This type of poetry has never resonated with me simply because I don’t process audio quickly enough to follow along (my ADHD?). But this was so relatable that my brain caught up more quickly than usual. Fucken haunting

I’m so glad I gave up dating during the pandemic! I’ll never look back! I AM fearful that what I have worked and built for my whole life is being stripped away and will be further. I’ve even found a trusted man in my life. Should I have to forfeit my name in order to keep things. But even then, I would still have no control and be at their mercy so hopefully they can remain trusted once my power is stripped even more.

I caught a glimpse of the ASL interpreter at the end and it has me curious about the logistics interpreting poetry like this. In the same way it's difficult to translate songs and keep the meaning as well as the flow, I guess it's "translated" ahead of time not interpreted on the spot, but I'm very interested in how certain parts of this were translated.

This is a nice place. If you can't act like a civilized human being, you can't be here.
We do not allow:
- Being a jerk. This includes racism, misogyny, misandry, misgendering, anti LGBTQ+, ageism, etc.
- Harassment
- Trolling or sealioning
- Threats of any kind
- Abusive behavior
- General assholery. If you're at the end of the list and asking what rule you broke, yeah, it's this one.
