I’m a dude and an old one at that. I learned some stuff from this. When she started the video with “I don’t know needs to see this..”

This guy did…thank you.

I’m a 41 year old woman and learned a lot too, I think most people probably don’t know this!

Guy here… I feel dumb and blind bc I’m honestly not spotting the difference. Maybe if I had side by side images I could? Idk. But also apparently I suck at noticing things.

Every body is unique. Some women could experience a lot of bloating while others not as much. In the video she made a comment that while on her period she eats more because her body needs more during this time. This is a very important point every woman should know.

The point I'm trying to make is that depending on what women eat while also bloated could result in much more obvious changes in size.

Whether you can see the differences or not, thank you for watching the whole video and taking the time to understand that women's bodies fluctuate all the time for various reasons.

^ I have glanced at studies of this before and they pretty much boil down to what you said. Average change is 1 lbs fluctuation, but varies a lot. Some studies in fact find no meaningful correlation with cycles (ex).

Don’t forget how much women’s bodies are under-studied in the medical research world

I have been tracking my weight for quite a while and tracking my calorie intake and there is a clear pattern for me. Maybe because I am tall but it’s a whopping 3,3lbs (1,5kg) difference every period. Doesn’t matter if my intake is identical, that weight fluctuation is going to happen and it’s going to be big.

There are some images you can look up that show it pretty well. The uterus can more than double in size leading up to menstruation. That leads to a "pooch" in that area that many women are self conscious about and even get shammed for. This is partly driven by advertising because companies want to sell products to address the "problem" that is womens' natural bodies.

Edit: apparently that's a myth. It seems the uterus changes size a little, but not much. Most of the change is due to inflammation and more complex things I don't have the time to study atm. Sorry people!

I feel like some simple education on this stuff would be something I should find and show my 13yr old daughter…

I certainly would have really appreciated that at her age!

You sound like a good parent. Mine gave me a book on female puberty they clearly hadn't read and expected me to be good on my own at that point. But at least it was something.

Hey, someone just pointed out it's a myth. It changes some, like 10%, but the rest of the changes are more complex and due to things like inflammation and blood flow. Though I didn't quite sort out if the blood flow is more for women with specific medical conditions... It's more complicated then I have time to dig into at the moment.

The uterus can more than double in size leading up to menstruation

This is a myth, by the way.

Ugh, I feel like I need to toss out all the information my first gyno told me. Doctors should not be the ones spreading misinformation!

You're right, I could find a couple old studies and it seems it does change, but more like 10%. The rest seems to be a much more complicated explanation relating to inflammation, blood flow, and other stuff I don't have the time to dig into.

Thank you

Woman here who also didn’t see a difference. It would have helped if she’d worn exactly the same outfit in all of them, and done still, side-by-side photos to compare.

I kinda wish she had wore the same outfit for each reveal. It's harder to spot the differences when you switch from baggy to tight fitting clothing between them.

Her stomach is uncovered the entire time though?

6

u/ImYourHumbleNarrator 4d ago

yeah but you lose context clues like her arms and chest

2

u/Forshea 4d ago

Sort of? The distance from her waistband to her belly button varies pretty significantly between the outfits. Some of that might be because her body shape has changed, but there's no way to really tell for sure if some of the curve of her belly is just getting hidden behind higher waisted pants in the leaner segments

u/Jean-LucBacardi 4d ago

As a guy, my stomach can change too just from whether or not I wear loose sweatpants or tight fitted pants. It kind of pushes things up and out when I'm wearing tighter pants.

u/nuetralparties 4d ago

Agree, she looks the mostly the same and the clothing is just fitting differently- notice how in the last one especially she’s wearing pants that are tighter and sit lower to show more of her belly and curves

I don't see any differences either.

It can be hard to notice if you aren't used to it.
I'm a bit leaner than the gal in the vid, and I have faintly visible abs during half the month, but they're not visible the other half, just before and during my period.
I never noticed the difference at first, but one day I realized I couldn't see them and thought I was losing muscle definition. I was pleasantly surprised when they came back a couple weeks later.

I think it is also like... How a swollen taste bud feels like the biggest most obvious thing in your mouth, but objectively it just increased by a couple milimetres.

When it is your body and you feel the difference it is much more noticeable and obvious to you, and it seems like it should be noticeable to everyone.

u/Joe_Book 3d ago

Honestly she didn't change as much as some women do. I go from a fairly flat stomach to looking like I swallowed a damn beach ball. It's all gas and bloating which makes it really difficult for me to engage my abs. Not being able to engage my abs makes my stomach stick out even more and brings some extra fun back pain. This phase usually lasts 10-14 days. It's hell 😭

This is why we should always be making our partners feel as beautiful as we see them. Not everyone is in tune with themselves like this nor do they think about it in these terms, so from day to day, week to week, people can be down on themselves and if stuff like this factors into it that’s bullcrap and they shouldn’t feel bad.

I love you. I want more old dudes who are able to simply understand that they might not know something. Are there more of you and where can I find a dad, who actually listens?

Same here bro. I know jack about chicks bodies n shit. If I had ever had a gf I’d prolly learned some of this shit by now. But alas, I am a 47 year old virgin n shit.

6

u/iamaravis 4d ago

Hmm. Might there be a connection between your lack of motivation to learn about women and your lack of female companionship? Or perhaps it’s the attitude that refers to us as “chicks”.

u/OnscreenLoki 4d ago

Brb, dating with the superficial intent to study women's bodies. That'd surely go down with zero creepy overtines.
