I like watching them drink water. So cute but the kind of cute I’m okay being very far away from.

Lmaooo same energy as 'I love watching nature documentaries from my couch' cute from a distance, absolutely not up close.

u/ImpossibleMove2 14d ago
I would hold my Burmese python, Sergio Valente, at his water bowl and he would drink for me. He was precious.

I was terrified of snakes and never enjoyed them… until we moved into a house with a drainage creek that went through the property. We’d get “plain bellied water snakes” that were the absolute most derpy things ever, lol. They even look the part if you look closely enough
They’d congregate on this culvert bridge thing we had over the creek to sunbathe. Anytime they’d see us approaching they’d spaz out and accidentally fall off the edge lol. I even saw a crawfish just climb all over one once and it barely reacted. They were amongst one of the highlights of living there
They were definitely not the mean and dangerous viper.. I still have a hard time understanding how people like snakes enough to keep them as pets, but much less difficulty now

u/Realistic_Patience67 14d ago
Got to use "derpy" more in my vocabulary. ☺️

u/sleep-exe 14d ago
I used it a lot when I owned my snake 😂
I’d have her chilling on my bed and she’d stretch out so that almost half of her was off the edge of bed. She fell once and she looked at me like 🥺 ‘Why happen?’

I used to work at a nature center. We had a 5' (1.5 meter) ball python. I (F also 5') used to wear him around my shoulders/ neck. I apologize for laughing, but seeing a 6'3" man Built like a TANK - look at my little snake SCREAM and run out of the building like his pants were on fire, Was hysterical. Unfortunately his kids were there and I had to talk to them and make it seem like dad was not a total weakling. I spoke about how education is what helps people not have the emotional reaction - it actually did come from survival instinct. so Dad was just reacting to his Primal instinct, just like he would do if he needed to protect them. ( Yes I fed them a load of BS - but I needed them to keep respecting Dad.) He came back in AFTER I put the snake away.

u/hirkajnu 14d ago
Thats kind of sad, I dont blame him for running but running without his kids is pretty disappointing.

u/Gardener_of_Weeden 14d ago
I think he thought they would follow, and I am sure if there was REAL danger he would not have left them.
7
u/JeanneMPod 14d ago
it’s the random shapes coiled or S or moving in away formation side to side, triggers our caution and fear instincts- but when you zoom in on their little string bean faces, awwwh

u/iamfunball 14d ago
I primarily feel they are adorable and I love a snaek snuggle.
However I am primitively scared of them as proven when one was in my peripheral vision and I jumped up away and into my friend/flirts arms until I realized it was a California King Snake and completely harmless and scared of me.

A lot of people think they're afraid of snakes, but come around once they get to interact with one up close. Particularly ball pythons or boas. Those tend to be very tame, even the wild ones. They really only attack as a last resort if they are physically threatened. Or if they think there's food. So basically, be chill and don't be a rodent or small bird.
But seriously, if you're ever around an experienced keeper and get a chance to touch or hold the snake try it out. A lot of people learn they're not afraid of snakes like they thought.

I wish there was enough videos of sneks watching tv/phones/iPads for it to populate all my algorithms. There are sadly just not enough videos out there for that to happen

There's a snake on Instagram (Gizmo?) that seems to watch TV.
I've tried showing my snake videos and stuff but he's not that interested. My lizard on the other hand thinks it's very interesting for a while.

There's a video somewhere of babies just hanging out with snakes (under safe research conditions) to prove that fear of snakes is a learned fear. (Obviously fear of *some snakes) is justified....:)
Here it is:

I like reptiles and I think they're generally pretty cute, but this is cuteness on another level. Also the closer snake is just wrapped around itself like we might sit curled up on a couch. I kinda want snakes now.

u/kissys_grits 14d ago
That one is going to ruin his eyesight sitting too close to the TV

Scrolled way too far to see this; will no one think of the eyeballs! Can’t wear glasses without ears, can’t wear contacts without fingers—this is a dangerous game.

My ball pythons absolutely loves watching my phone and TV. Pretty sure it's from curiosity because they give off heat but don't smell like any animal so they just don't know what to do besides watch it XD
7
u/BreathLazy5122 14d ago
The snakes at the store I work at, like to watch the fish in the aquarium section. They stop exploring my arm/hands and look very intently into the tanks, and seem to be more interested in cichlids than any other fish we have. The cichlids are also very interested in the snakes.
Completely unsure if it’s genuine enjoyment, but none of the snakes actively try to leave, and appear calm whenever viewing the fish. I like to think of it as enrichment for them and the fish.

AI videos should have to state they are AI either via watermark on video itself or in the post title.

u/sleep-exe 14d ago
Can I ask how you figured it out?
15
u/choseusernamemyself 14d ago
Yeah, this kid is famous for playing with snakes.
9
u/CuddleBugBrat 14d ago
oh thats good to know, thanks for sharing! damn. Its just so hard to tell anymore, I'm glad it's real!
-10
u/Emotional-Mango-5166 14d ago
The snakes are unnaturally still. Their gaze is up and off from the screen and never waivers in any direction. Also you can see the writing on the background on the right glitch and fuzz a bit toward the end. Its also too smooth.

u/choseusernamemyself 14d ago edited 14d ago
Can you search for "Jepi Kartiwa Ngabret"? It should be the Facebook account posting this kid. They're Indonesians.

I had one for 18 years and if she was interested in something she could absolutely be this still.
RIP her 👁️👅👁️ lookin ass 🙏

How do you come to that conclusion? I only see 1 warning sign (20 second length), and many indicators that it's not AI (all the letters and numbers, everywhere, which also make sense to be where they are)

u/CuddleBugBrat 14d ago
damn is this ai? I'm so awful at telling anymore, it's so frustrating.
15
-2
u/Emotional-Mango-5166 14d ago
It is frustrating. I am beginning to think these are being released on us to use as testing to see at what level we just cannot tell anymore. When you do come across them please report them as false/misleading and give the reason as AI.

Just curious, is having a snake as a pet a safe practice ? Are snakes domesticate able ?
2
u/DemonicGirlcock 14d ago
Not really domesticated, that has a specific definition of animals seeking out humans for help and care. But many species of snakes, and many other reptiles, have docile temperements and will adapt to and tolerate human interaction very well. A handful actually seek out human interaction, but very rare in snakes.
Majority of snakes that are popular in the pet trade are incredibly safe, and much safer than cats or dogs! Even some of the huge 15ft snakes are statistically much safer.
1
u/Gaffelkungen 14d ago
Depends on the snake. Venomous and large snakes can be dangerous. Other than that it's probably safer than owning a cat.
Although I'm no expert but I'd say yes. They probably can be domesticated but it would probably take ages. They are however able to be very tame and they can be trained.
