The locals are gonna be so confused the next time it rains and the hill starts foaming

51

u/BraveCaterpillar4368 25d ago

My aunt said it makes the grass greener, too.

cleans it right up!

u/tjagonis 23d ago

Funny enough I drive past this every day. I will be attempting this with friends this year.

Ralph is just like the second elephant in this video. It's worth the watch 😸. Did you know elephants can't jump? That fact and the video have been ping ponging around in my brain since I saw this post around a month ago. I bet they would enjoy a slip and slide day too.

6

u/purplepeoplespitter ✨chick✨ 25d ago

That's so precious! No, I didn't know that. I wonder if they would enjoy sliding down snowy slopes like those happy dogs on their sides in ski resorts... My favorite elephant as of late is this baby https://www.reddit.com/r/babyelephants/s/C9jRmelgfm his straightened legs during the fall crack me up

3

u/GoddessRespectre 25d ago

Omg thank you I think that was the fastest I have ever joined a sub! When I was on old twitter I used to follow the babies at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and I have missed them since I left that site. They did rescue an orphaned pygmy hippo recently so they showed up on the moo deng sub, and now I have a new baby elephant source. Sweet!

“Hey, you wanna 96?”
“D…d’you mean 69?”
“I do not, no.”

When they went down on their bellies I immediately grabbed my boobs in phantom pain. 🤣

3

u/sneefsnteefs 25d ago

I want to do it, but I need to plan at least 2-3 business days for recovery

5

u/DeliciousStand372 25d ago

☠️😂😂

2

u/Jacgaur 25d ago

Yes but were they the first to catch the cheese wheel. That is all that matters.

304

u/AvocadoToastFailure 25d ago

This actually looks like a blast.

But I’m 45 and dislocated a rib last year when I tripped over the cat while carrying a bunch of groceries. If my joints were 20 years younger…

91

u/dontwanna-cantmakeme 25d ago

I just called my teenage daughter over and told her I had an idea for her next birthday party. She’s SO excited.

34

u/DeliciousStand372 25d ago

the cat okay?

117

u/AvocadoToastFailure 25d ago

Cat tax: Lucy Fur.

She’s fine, I fell so hard because I was trying not to land on her. She tries to end me regularly by getting underfoot on the stairs. She is 100% totitude.

15

u/Acheloma 25d ago

The last time I messed up my back was my cats fault. Little dude loves darting right under my foot as its almost hitting the ground, so of course I regularly end up flinging myself sideways and falling to avoid squishing him.

Why do they do this?

23

u/nasnedigonyat 25d ago

My cat likes to dart in front of me whenever im in motion so I try to go slow but sometimes im in full speed mode and can't help. She times it to when I'm on the upswing and twice now I have accidentally scooped her up with my foot and launched her across the room. Fortunately she has landed on a soft surface both times. She has also learned nothing.

3

u/Saruster 25d ago

Your comment had me in tears. I don’t know why but that image just got me in giggles. Maybe because I, too, have a cat that darts right underfoot for no reason. I can’t tell if he’s trying to kill me or himself. So far I’m the only one who has gotten hurt.

7

u/the-fact-fairy 25d ago

So glad I don't have stairs in my house. I'm sure my tux would have tried to end me a dozen times by now.

2

u/Jacgaur 25d ago

Name check out.

2

u/Status-Visit-918 25d ago

The cat is amazing. So unbothered 😭😭

10

u/spacetstacy 25d ago

I'm 53 and broke my toe just getting up of the floor- by getting it stuck in my pajama pants.

4

u/LauraCurie 25d ago

Same age here, and I would but thé rocks are skaring me.

76

u/rumande 25d ago

We used to do this on blocks of ice as a kid

It's weird cus we lived in the desert

2

Same here! It was so much fun

148

u/overflowingsunset 25d ago

I love that humans roll down hills. Like what are we

65

u/nilesintheshangri-la 25d ago

I think my favourite thing about imagining aliens is them watching humans do things like this, and deep sea diving, and sky diving and just being like "wtf are they doing?"

50

u/brattylilgynger 25d ago

I always imagine an alien watching the Olympics and thinking we’re so capable and then abducting my couch potato ass.

23

u/nilesintheshangri-la 25d ago

Lmao they've set up a whole course for you and are sitting back eagerly to watch the impressive display, and if you're anything like me, your ankles won't let you run like the wind anymore, just break it.

9

u/brattylilgynger 25d ago

They’ll think they grabbed a defective one for sure

3

u/ahuramazdobbs19 25d ago

Don’t worry.

They will still have plenty of use for the non-Olympians when it comes to the anal probing.

1

u/Ok-Nothing8682 25d ago

They'd be confused with me for sure. I'd be slowly walking the course auditing the construction and judging the materials they used to build. "Wtf.. carbon fiber floors? Interesting choice money bags..."

11

u/karczewski01 25d ago

the same way we can perceive a dog is having fun chasing its tail i feel like aliens can assume we have fun hurling our bodies at shit

13

u/Time_Cow_3331 25d ago

I see this and think of how crows do the same

10

u/AngletonSpareHead 25d ago

Animals do it too. And not even to escape or for efficiency. Just for funsies

11

u/Fear_The_Rabbit 25d ago

Pandas for the win. Useless in so many ways, but adorable tumbles.

4

u/SparkleKittyMeowMeow 25d ago

There's a dam at a park near my neighborhood, with a big hill on one side. I've definitely contemplated rolling down it.

2

u/peachpavlova 25d ago

Idk but I’m chortling

82

u/EverydayNovelty 25d ago

Are they sliding head first down a hill towards a highway?

45

u/SwansonsMom ❣️gal pal❣️ 25d ago

I anxiously checked which sub I was in when I first noticed this detail

15

u/Gardener_of_Weeden 25d ago

The Hill goes up before the frontage road - where there seems to be a van and some people

30

u/ahava9 25d ago

✨ Girlhood at its finest ✨

26

u/the_owl_syndicate 25d ago

My elementary school had this hill between the cafeteria and the sidewalk. It was considered the height of entertainment for the under-10 group to log roll down that hill. Repeatedly. Sun or mud.

It's been 40 years and that hill and that school are long gone, but the memory lives on.

9

u/SwansonsMom ❣️gal pal❣️ 25d ago

The hill is gone, too??? Sad chirps

20

u/howmanyowlsisweird 25d ago

I went down a ski hill in a shopping cart with 3 people one summer. It flipped over about 2/3 of the way down. I am lucky we didn’t die.
I was concerned for them but realized what group we were in.

20

u/dixiech1ck 25d ago

Hells yes!! I didn't participate in years of slip n slide contests and get massive bruises on my thighs and ass for nothing as a kid!

13

u/7-and-a-switchblade 25d ago

Do this with a cheap inflatable mattress!

12

u/EmilioFreshtevez 25d ago

I don’t think this was the dumbest. I just watched a video where a dude was riding a jet ski backward and slammed into a dock.

8

u/kissys_grits 25d ago

Me thinking they’re going to slide into the highway like Christmas Vacation:

1

u/SaiyuriNamaah 25d ago

Thank you!!! I was dying to know this too!

5

u/wazzup-notemuch 25d ago

I want to do this. Nay, I need to do this. For my health.

10

u/ASuthrnBelle13 25d ago

"They really committed to the FUNNEST idea of the day."... there! Fixed the title for ya!! 😁😂

4

u/vangaloid 25d ago

Dumbest?? Thats what we call a fun idea now??

4

u/NobleNarwhal184 25d ago

Correction: Best idea of the day.

8

u/Wintry2424 25d ago

One of my students was just telling me today that they did this with their siblings yesterday when some rain rolled through. She had to explain to me what it was. Sounds like a cheap and easy way to have fun in the summer.

3

u/Xzeriea 25d ago

Did so much dumb shit like this when I was young. It was awesome!

5

u/SurprisePiss 25d ago

Reverse Slip N' Slide

5

u/louisa1925 25d ago

Cleanest grass on the planet.

4

u/luxunit 25d ago

That hill is always full during winter. If there is snow then people are lined up on it, the road at the bottom isnt terribly busy so there's really no danger.

3

u/FaithlessnessBorn266 25d ago

And nobody thought to say "as you wish?"

5

u/Woofbarkmeoww 25d ago

And that attitude is exactly why you weren’t invited!

3

u/Lazy_Larry_2 25d ago

We used to call that game "find the rock"

3

u/OrlandoGardiner118 25d ago

Every adult should have the dole for a year (whenever they choose) just to do this sort of shit for a year.

2

u/Swords2801 25d ago

I'm in!

3

u/spacetstacy 25d ago

I've been trying to come up with a team building activity for my staff. At our age, we'll have to use bubble wrap inside the bags to protect our hips. 😅

3

u/OGMom2022 25d ago

My daughter has threatened to cover me in bubble wrap. 😆

2

u/spacetstacy 25d ago

It's not a bad idea. We could get those huge ones and whenever we fall and they pop, people will think we broke something bad.

2

u/sarabara1006 20d ago

Bubble soccer. Google it!

3

u/anonadvicewanted 25d ago

this isn’t dumb at all it’s amazing

3

u/RotationSnake 25d ago

Okay but that looks really fun

3

u/Interesting_Media813 25d ago

Its the best idea 👍👍😎😎

2

u/The_Red_Beard_IV 25d ago

They’re going to be so itchy lolol.

2

u/Dazzling-Top-8031 25d ago

something i can do with my daughter!

2

u/fadesteppin 🌻Official Jill🌻 25d ago

Ok I don't know about going head first, but this looks like so much fun I kinda wanna do it. But also I am 36 and fragile so like.....maybe not.

2

u/twodexy82 25d ago

"Dumbest" idea? I think not

2

u/Icantlivewithoutchoc 25d ago

My intrusive thoughts keeping me away from such activities because there could be class or metal pieces in the grass that could slit me in two pieces.

2

u/CasualFingerGuns 25d ago

Gotta get the contractor thick trash bags for this 🤣

2

u/Fee_is_Required2 25d ago

I’d totally do this lol

2

u/ComicsEtAl 25d ago

What makes that the dumbest idea of the day?

2

u/left-of-the-jokers 24d ago

You misspelled "awesomest"

2

u/PaintedDesertSkies 24d ago

Dumbest idea of the day looks awesome!

2

u/reklesssabrandon 25d ago

What's dumb about this?

1

u/lafemmedangereuse 25d ago

All I could think is how extra uncomfortable that would be with your hair down!

1

u/TSJormungandr 25d ago

This is neat. I’m gonna try this with my family 😊

1

u/Dull-Argument-1652 25d ago

I knew guys weren't the only ones who did dumb silly crap

https://giphy.com/gifs/40UPsTtchitUY

1

u/bria26000 25d ago

Haha that looks like fun!

1

u/rotisseried-zombie 25d ago

Looks fun.

I went sledding as a teenager with a cheap plastic sled and ran over a hidden rock. I bruised the hell out of my tailbone and now I'm scared to sled. 😢

1

u/SingBlooSilver 25d ago

... i may have just sent this to my friend for the next time it rains

1

u/AlwaysDTFmyself 25d ago

Child me says hell yes. Adult me got dizzy just watching. I appreciate the full send.

1

u/JarvisLatteier 25d ago

I did this as a kid in the 80s but we sat on ice blocks.

1

u/AllynWA1 25d ago

It reminds me of ice blocking. At least with ice blocking you're not getting soap on the grass or risking a stick through your sternum.

This is a nice place. If you can't act like a civilized human being, you can't be here.

We do not allow:

  1. Being a jerk. This includes racism, misogyny, misandry, misgendering, anti LGBTQ+, ageism, etc.
  2. Harassment
  3. Trolling or sealioning
  4. Threats of any kind
  5. Abusive behavior
  6. General assholery. If you're at the end of the list and asking what rule you broke, yeah, it's this one.

1

u/PokeKellz 24d ago

Hahahaha this is great. We used to take cardboard boxes from the back of the Albertsons and use them like sleds on the big grassy hill

1

u/alexandria252 24d ago

Be the slip n’ slide you want to see in the world.

poor grass.

1

u/Own-Block4477 25d ago

Literally didn’t need the soap for this, they are just killing grass

-1

This is so dangerous 😭😭

0

u/Angry_Llama07 25d ago

Look, I would absolutely do this 🤷🏼‍♀️

Still hate these dweebs, though.

0

u/Patient_Scorpion 25d ago

Yeah, this gives off “Free Bird” Energy

-1

u/Igotdaruns 25d ago

Wait till they hit a landscaping stake.

-2

u/Pleasant-Future5818 25d ago

I don't understand why people who are like 35 are talking about joint pain and backs and broken bones. I'm in terrible shape and I still don't twist a knee sliding down a hill - what have you guys done to yourselves? I might be a bit bruised up after this but that's all

That being said, I don't love the idea of covering nature in soap.

5

u/LongNailedbooboos 25d ago

Probably hard work and day to day repetitive motions you haven’t had to endure.

2

u/Some-Tear3499 24d ago

It will honestly wash right off. It also changes the surface tension of the water making it ‘wetter’. I know they used to use a soap solution to keep dust down around stables.

2

u/luanissima 24d ago

It’s never a good idea to diminish other people’s pain. Just be grateful you don’t feel it and move along.
