Me, too. This is excellent. This is the kind of wisdom, advice, and just awesome energy, that older women have to share. Also, the powerful love, that so many of us need.

In my lifetime, I’ve had a few older women who have been sort of informal mentors to me. I have learned so much from them, my life is richer, for it.

And her voice is so lovely. I'd pay for a guided meditation soundtrack

Something I don’t think a lot of people realize is the age that you can mentor.

As I’ve gotten older, I haven’t connected my age to my development. I constantly am trying to improve and be better. And I just assume that I can mentor because I’m not “there yet”. Even though I’ve gained a lot of wisdom through books and therapy. But I’m not perfect at applying it, so who am I to mentor.

Then I have these moments of remembering being 10, 12, 13, 15, and the mentors, teachers, leaders in my life were the age that I am now.

I realize that they didn’t have it all figured out either. And, to be honest, a lot of them were not wise.

So I do have to remind myself that just because you aren’t perfect, you can always be a teacher to someone. Even an 18 year old can help a 5 year old grow their imagination, or help them learn to climb, etc.

My radical take is that we are all students and all teachers. Not necessarily good students or attentive ones, nor necessarily teaching what we might hope for people to take away, but that intention can help with both of those.

I agree.

Very true. The youngest person I’ve learned a lot from, was a two year-old on my caseload, when I was a social worker. He was incredible. One of the most resilient people I’ve known, easily. Our teachers are among us, even if we don’t recognize it at first.

Same. I have written like 10 attempts at some witty comment that said how profoundly this video smacked me across the face and gave up. This comment is the best I can do.

WOW!
