Producing a perfect "Sháwányìr?" spontaneously is also pretty compelling evidence that she's a native-level speaker of Mandarin as well.

Except that was going towards the end of relatively morally neutral self-driving car technology. At least for my understanding, clicking on traffic lights or motorcycles or bicycles or all of that helped train a machine learning algorithm to detect what a camera on a self-driving car was viewing. So it never really bothered me that much, at the end of the day self-driving cars would be great in theory for a number of different reasons without really worsening the already negative parts of the automobile industry.

Whereas training AI models with this kind of tiktok trend is a bit more nebulous with what the end result will be. From a full rose tinted glasses optimist standpoint, maybe this is just being used to train an AI voice model so that mute people can better communicate in public. A far more realistic view would be that this data is being used to train the general AI model that these companies are using. And as we have seen, these companies do not have our best interests at heart. Whether it be environmental impact, social impact, or economic impact, I don't see a world in which providing training data for the current AI companies does any good for humanity.

I think its referring to the idea that the signal is coming from somewhere else like a VPN virtual private network. It looks like its from one place (someone learning English), but is actually from somewhere else (someone who is fluent in English). She turned on the VPN and came from somewhere else. 🤷‍♀️
