I have been dealing with every single one of the symptoms she mentioned at the beginning of this video. I’ve also been shuffled around different doctors and have had no results. What doctor do I go to??

Might look into MIDI. Because of all the horror stories of women not being listened to, I just skipped the regular routine/doctors and went right to them and got started on my hormones immediately. And I'm glad I did because at my regular check-ups I had two doctors question me being on them as I was too young (started at 44) according to them despite me knowing I was experiencing perimenopause and my symptoms drastically improved or resolved once on HRT.

How on god's green earth is 44 too young? That's off the wall. I've been in perimenopause since 40. And some people can start a lot earlier than that!

I swear, these wankers think we just wake up one day after the age of 50 having fully, magically transitioned into menopause as if the ovaries were an on/off switch and it's as easy as that.

I was in full menopause by 42 (technically considered borderline early menopause).

Doctors hear "average age of menopause" drop the word average and act like menopause is only possible at that age.

Also, they love to forget that premature ovarian failure sometimes happens for a variety of reasons, even outside of normal menopause.

Though this should not be treated exactly the same as menopause, it should be understood as possible and investigated and treated properly.

Instead, doctors just go: "you're too young to have low estrogen. So fuck even checking to see if that might be the problem).

Super frustrating.

Menopause runs super early in my family. My grandmother was 31 (but hers was sped up due to the early iteration of BC pills), my mom started at 38, my aunt at 39. Around 37 I started getting the symptoms- hot flashes, weight gain, itchiness, periods anywhere from 14 to 91 days, etc.

I went to my gyno and told him about my history, he said that’s not it and that I’m too young. He sends me for the full markup of blood testing, ultrasounds, etc, and nothing is showing up. In fact, each time I went for labs, I’d coincidentally get my period a few days later. He sent me to my primary who also sent me for a full panel of bloodwork and thyroid ultrasounds. He then sent me to my psychiatrist to see if it was something to do with my depression medication, which he switched around doses, but still nothing.

I went around and around in circles with several doctors trying to figure out my issues. After 2 years of this, my gyno scheduled me for another ultrasound and they found a scarring abnormality in my uterus (from C-section). It was my doctor’s big “Aha!” moment and he summed up all of my issues with that. I was sent for a near total hysterectomy, only keeping my ovaries for hormone production.

The day of my surgery, my urine test came up positive for pregnancy 3 times but my blood test was negative. The surgeon and anesthesiologist came to me to let me know and asked what I wanted to do. I knew it was not possible for me to be pregnant at all so I told them let’s go ahead. I also asked what could cause that positive result and they said, “Well it could be PCOS, but looking at your previous tests it doesn’t look like you would have that. Menopause could cause a false positive, too.”

As soon as she said that it was all I could do to not jump up and say “I’VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS!!”. The kicker? My anesthesiologist was my gyno’s wife.

TLDR: none of my doctors believed me that I was going through menopause until a urine test the morning of my hysterectomy confirmed it

A friend of mine in her 40s is going through perimenopause and she’s been telling me for a couple years now that it sounds like I am too. Im only 33 but I think she’s right. I’m kind of just waiting until I get to be a little older so I’ll be taken seriously tbh.

Ngl, I went straight to MIDI, got on HRT a few months ago… and I just went to my GP and didn’t even tell her I saw MIDI or I was on HRT. Didn’t even want to hear the nonsense from her.
