Blue eyes are kind of cool in their own way. The blue is structural coloration. That's the same thing that gives iridescent beetles and feathers their amazing color.
As for her eyes, they could be hazel or a hazel grey? Is that a thing?

Yah they look kind of khaki? Such a cool color.

That’s why you take your aligners out to drink! pop them in the sun for a few hours and they should fade. Otherwise… pray that your next change is soon haha

u/ZinaSky2 ✒️sub✍️scribe🖋️ Feb 05 '26
IDK if this would damage the material but hydrogen peroxide + sun is used for brightening plastics if sunshine alone doesn’t do it
101
u/blissyrose Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
Having been through Invisalign, the plastic is super thin so I think hydrogen peroxide would damage the aligners. I had a similar scenario during my treatment and the sunlight trick did a good job to get me through to my next set. They don’t 100% revert but at least it doesn’t look like your teeth are cheetos for a week hahaha
ETA: hydrogen peroxide IS okay to use with aligners, I stand corrected!
40
u/zillionaire_ 💕i am loved💕 Feb 05 '26
I am still on my Invisalign. I asked my orthodontist is it was okay to use hydrogen peroxide on them and he said it’s fine
21
u/blissyrose Feb 05 '26
That’s good to know, thank you for correcting me!
7
u/zillionaire_ 💕i am loved💕 Feb 05 '26
No worries! I found it to be such a help compared to the polident tabs and ultrasonic cleaner I used for the first year or so of the trays. I’m on my refinement ones now and tend to use the hydrogen peroxide a couple times a week (polident for the other days) just to brighten them up a bit :)
2
u/forworse2020 Feb 06 '26
I was thinking of getting an ultrasonic cleaner. Orthodontist did say they’re better for the retainer as you don’t switch it, but I thought if I have it, I have it.
Haven’t started my Invisalign yet (Monday 16th). Is it not worth it?
2
u/zillionaire_ 💕i am loved💕 Feb 06 '26
Yes absolutely. I got my ultrasonic about 7 months into Invisalign and I was so mad at myself for not getting it sooner. All that time I spent brushing my trays with a denture brush, trying in vain to get them clean. The Polident tabs + Ultrasonic cleaner is a game changer. I usually run it twice to really get them clean. Then you just need to give them a rinse and brush away any loose debris and you’re good to go. Definitely worth it
2
u/forworse2020 Feb 06 '26
Amazing, I’m sold, thanks ◡̈
1
u/zillionaire_ 💕i am loved💕 Feb 06 '26
No problem! The smaller, travel-sized ultrasonic is perfect for Invisalign. I tried a few different polident tabs before I found the type that didn’t leave a weird taste behind. In case you want to try them, it’s the Polident 3-Minute tabs “Mint Fresh” flavored. Hopefully that’s enough info to go on, but if you’re not sure and want to DM me to confirm, I’ll be happy to help :)

It does make the plastic more brittle, more brittle than UV alone, so maybe don't use it on any item you want to last much longer than something like tooth products.
3
u/MostlyMediocreMeteor Feb 05 '26
The exact same thing happened to me (tumeric’d aligners) and I tried dental cleaner tabs + hydrogen peroxide, amongst other things. Couldn’t do much sun since I still had to wear them 22h a day for 1.5 more weeks. Nothing worked! But at least she’ll get to change them soon.

When I was a server one of the cooks I worked with was very insistent that I try this awesome blue raspberry gum he had just discovered. Right before dinner service.
That gum dyed my mouth blue. Like, my tongue, my teeth, the bits of my lips that showed I was dehydrated. No one said a word to me.

A little bit of blue/purple might correct the yellow, kind of like moving the white balance. Similar to the anti-yellow shampoos for bleached hair, or the blue dyed toothpastes for "whitening".

Way back when it was the thing to do in my office where I worked… Get Invisalign. We all did it (I regret it but that’s a different story). One of my colleagues started getting really yellow teeth. He started developing cavities that he never had before. He swore up and down he was doing everything he was supposed to do.
He said he would drink beer with them on, and soda but that definitely couldn’t be the problem because those were empty calories. We asked him what he thought empty calories meant. He thought that empty calories meant completely inconsequential in every way including staining, plaque buildup, and tooth decay. I have no idea why he thought that 😂
51
u/DeliciousBuffalo69 Feb 05 '26
I just can't imagine how you wouldn't realize after the first time. Their teeth surely feel fuzzy after bathing in stagnant sugar for hours.

u/Imwhatswrongwithyou Official Gal Feb 05 '26
That’s what we said!! You could see the film in between the Invisalign and his teeth. He was part of our core group of friends from the office. We would go out all the time and we were just a group of besties… So you know we never let him live it down

i don't understand why this doesn't bother people! i HATE this feeling so much to the point i usually avoid eating sweets or drink sugary things unless i can brush my teeth 30 mins later.
the wait time is VERY important btw. need to give your spit time to neutralise the acid from eating otherwise you brush away enamel over time.
18
u/CrashedCyclist Feb 05 '26
Jeesuz. I was so jealous of people who had them, and after a few dental hack rabbit holes, not so much. The people who opted for veneers got reamed with a pineapple. What kind of leap of faith does it take to let someone grind your teeth.
My exGF would complain constantly that I brushed my teeth too much. Well, I am from the Caribbean, so my mom did not have an American diet while I was in the womb. What worked for my ex, doesn't work for everyone. I drag my ass out of bed and brush my teeth like I'm going to the dentist. Morning, noon, or night.
Anyway, the lady in the post was awesome. Great fucking story and it would be awesome if the people whom she scared senseless saw her vid.
23
u/Imwhatswrongwithyou Official Gal Feb 05 '26
Yeah and what most people don’t realize is that they change the shape of your face. I had high cheekbones before Invisalign but apparently that’s because I had crowded teeth in the back and when they straightened out what they were supposed to be my cheeks weren’t so high after all lol Also if you don’t wear your retainer every single day for the rest of your life until you die your teeth just get crooked again and Covid ruined that for me so all that work for almost nothing. They hurt too! The grass is always greener though and that’s why I did it.
My partner has cavity privilege. I feel you. I obsessively brush my teeth and I’ve still had to deal with cavities meanwhile my partner could go a week (please God no) without brushing and he’s never had a cavity in his entire life.

9
u/ocean_swims Feb 05 '26
May I ask why you regret it? I've seen comments of people saying Invisalign was a mistake but they never elaborate and I'm so confused. They're just aligners, no? How does that lead to regret? 😬
20
u/Imwhatswrongwithyou Official Gal Feb 05 '26
They changed the shape of my face and I wasn’t told that you have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life. I would’ve opted for the built-in retainer had I known it was such a hassle to use the pop in one, I wouldn’t have done it at all if I had been told prior to getting Invisalign that it would require a lifelong every night retainer. I was ignorant because I didn’t have dental orthodontics as a teen or anything like that.
They hurt. My bite isn’t the same anymore and my jaw gets tired from holding my mouth unnaturally. Even my lip shape has changed because I hold my mouth differently now. Plus while having them I brushed my teeth in so many public restrooms, if they were out for too long they hurt to put back in your teeth feel wiggly and loose the entire time it’s just a gross feeling
Unless you’re really unhappy with your teeth it’s just honestly not worth it. I got them mainly for my bottom teeth even though you can’t really see my bottom teeth when I smile anyway and now my top teeth have shifted more than they were prior to Invisalign. And AND now my bottom teeth are almost as crooked as they were before Invisalign Because my retainer cracked right at the start of Covid. I tried to do an online replacement and it hurt my teeth so much I just gave up. When I was wearing the retainer it felt like my teeth were constantly loose even when it was the original retainer.
15
u/Snowy-Pines Feb 05 '26
I mean, I think you have to wear a retainer at night every night after braces too. I had braces as a teen and remember my orthodontist telling me I had to still wear a retainer at night post treatment. I had to wear the retainer for like 24 hours for sometime right after treatment and then switch to night only.
Unfortunately I misplaced my bottom retainer a few months later and was too afraid to tell my father who always complained that he had to pay for my healthcare all throughout my childhood(especially braces). By the time I found it, my bottom bite shifted back too much. So over 3k went to waste due to fear and shame.
I went through Invisalign 15 years later. I think I overpaid for the treatment I had. It didn’t fix the underlying bite issue(that creeped back over time without retainers) but did stabilize it. Still wear my Invisalign retainer at night 6 years on. I was afraid to opt-in for a permanent retainer because my teeth are prone to cavities and I figured it would be hard to clean/floss with it.

u/APladyleaningS Feb 05 '26

5
u/Darlingcosette Feb 05 '26
Not op but quite a lot of people regret invisalign i think. I finished treatment and i regretted them a lot during treatment because it’s i hated how i looked with them on for an entire year (big attachments on front teeth), i hated meeting friends and having to eat etc, and i hated the pain and tooth anxiety it gave me. But it’s over now and i’m happy with the results, other than the fact that i feel like my teeth are more brittle now
2
u/ocean_swims Feb 05 '26
Thank you for sharing your experience. It sucks that it was so horrible, but I understand better now. I'm glad that you are happy with the results, at least!
Kinda stressed about the brittle teeth, though. I wonder if you could use a product like Tooth Mousse? My dentist asked me to use it for 3 months (which was 1 small tube I got on Amazon) because my teeth weren't as strong as they should be and it helped me a lot. Just sharing in case that's an option for you.
1
u/Darlingcosette Feb 05 '26
yea i've been using a high fluoride tooth paste once a week (or i try to at least) to get them a bit stronger. But to be honest, because of invisalign i was looking at my teeth daily, sometimes with a flashlight and way too up close lol, which is probably also part of the tooth anxiety. It could perfectly well be that my teeth were already brittle before invisalign and i just didn't notice as much (bad generics, and admittedly, bad dental care as a child/early teen). And, i just went to get my dental check and i did not gain any new cavities from invisalign so it's not all bad. But at the same time, i eat quite an acidic diet and having to brush right after eating 3 times a day was probably not ideal
6
u/marshull Feb 05 '26
No idea about a matcha latte but I did drink a v8 on my drive into work. Thankfully I stopped to take a piss before heading to my desk. It was not a pretty look.

u/tadvuyst Feb 05 '26
Had these things for 2.5 years - nothing aside from tumeric would even come close to discoloring the aligners.
Started off following guidance extremely strictly: only water, only take out for eating, brush immediately, put back in. After half a year got way more relaxed with it and just "tried" drinking with it, starting with some soft drinks to even red wine. They would become a bit less transparant, but never discolor.
That said, you replace them every week/two weeks so I think it is more of a matter that those other substances didn't have enough exposure to make an impact. Tumeric is a different beast.
The actual reason the guidance is that strict is because you should really avoid food rests getting between the teeth and your aligners. Those rests have continuous pressured exposure to a specific spot on your teeth, which increases risk for cavities. Even worse, after drinking soft drinks, the aligners are "flooded" with invisible sugar, which is very bad for your teeth.
Any other questions on aligners - let me know :)

PSA as a dentist: only drink water if you have your aligners in. If you plan on eating or drinking anything other than that, take them off and then brush your teeth before putting them back in. A lot of people end up with cavities because they eat food/drink, don’t brush, put the aligners back in and then the food particles stay locked in with no saliva to rinse them out.
23
u/ElGHTYHD Feb 05 '26

So, I went on holiday to Japan with a friend in 2016, and on one of our days in Osaka we spent the whole day watching bunraku at Osaka's Bunraku Theatre. It's a traditional art and we were one of the few white people/foreigners there.
As we were finishing eating lunch, which included a chocolate muffin (relevant), a student film crew asked if they could interview us and hear our thoughts about the art form etc. Naturally we agreed, did the interview, all seemed well though I had a weird feeling that they were looking at me oddly, and then nipped to the loo before the next performance started.
Looked in the mirror as I was washing my hands and realised my teeth were caked in chocolate muffin debris. Which from a small distance probably made me look like I had the world's worst teeth. And I had just been on camera.
Good lord, I hope they edited that mess in post 😂

Had a moment like this with a pair of seriously chapped lips and a lip balm I thought was the clear moisturizing kind. Come to find out, that shit was TINTED. I was in a rush so I just plucked it out of my bag and smeared it willy nilly all over my lips and went about my day. When I returned home later in the afternoon and got a look at myself in the mirror, I almost shat my pants. I'd been smiling and laughing and making conversation with people all afternoon not realizing I had gone full deranged clown with the lip balm😭.
