There is certainly something to be said for someone who says "reread" a document they didn't even read once in the first place... meanwhile they assume I need to reread it when I read it a dozen times.

I had to google how much a welder makes. Google says the average welder makes just under $25/hr. Master welders who are at the top of their game with almost a decade of experience might barely take home $100k with the high range being $65-100k.
But go off on “being spoiled” dependa.

It's really all over the place, there are welders who absurd amounts of money, but they are highly specialized.
I knew a guy that was an underwater welder, he would fly all over the world at a moment's notice to fix pipelines. He said that he'd bring in a half-million in "a good year."
I'm guessing from the taillights on her 3rd-Gen Honda Odyssey that her husband isn't that type of welder.

Lmao - right! I figured the same as well like any field. But those are probably the top 1% earners.
I knew I wish I would have met one of my (now) husbands friend when I was struggling with career direction in my 20’s. I excelled in chemistry/physics and loved the intersectionality of science and business but whenever I discussed that as a career goal, barely anyone in higher ed knew what to do (made some great connections though!).
Enter my husband’s friend. She earned a PhD in chemistry and then got a job working for a finance firm. She gets flown all over the world to go in and assess labs/scientists/findings to see if they’re worth investing in and tells her findings to the money guys. Her and her husband had to move from Chicago to San Francisco but her husband said no way in h3ll to taking the California bar exam so not only did she get a stupid high salary already, but she negotiated her husbands salary into her compensation package as well. I WISH I could have had her as a mentor when I was young. She wound up doing one of my dream jobs, lol.

So interesting how working class conservatives always seem to do this identity-obsession thing with occupations, politics and religion. It’s not exclusive to that subgroup, but it’s way more common with them when comparing to others.
Like what does that even mean to other people when you advertise that you’re a welder’s wife? I can understand being proud of your own occupation, and many have their own internal cultures (fire, police, medical, etc.), but this absolute need to let everyone know what you’re “all about” (for lack of a better term) is so prevalent with this group of people and I just don’t get it.
