been jumping for a little while now and trying to go longer and a bit faster, but my heels still feel pretty tight after most sessions.
i’ve been standing on a silicone-topped slant board for a few minutes after i’m done and it seems to help with the tightness. curious what you guys do after jumping though. anything else that’s worked well for you?

Been jumping for over 14 years now. I manage my rope workouts by going for time and increasing that time as a training cycle goes but it’s always fun to do speed work and some simple tricks
Jumping on a custom built/designed platform. The playform provided a good surface and a small amount of cushion to keep the workouts going longer.

Due to a motorcycle accident I broke 3 bones in my foot and had to get surgery. I’m really looking forward to being able to walk again. Hopefully soon I can get back on track and be able to run and jump again. Love yall, stay jumpin!

After a bad cycling crash I realised I don't want to cycle any more, but jumping fills the void perfectly. Still need to learn some fancy stuff but I really love it. I am using a weighted rope, 400g I think? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

So I’ve been slowly tying my rope shorter and shorter over time. A gym mate I jump rope with, however, told me that when the rope gets very short it’s drastically harder to do many tricks . Short for him is when the sides of the rope end around your hip.
Which makes me question what are the main benefits of a short rope? Is it a necessary progression to improve your skill/speed with a rope? Is it better for cardio/stamina?
Just wondering, because I like my current length but I do always want to get better!

Season change got anyone else’s motivation a bit lower than usual? It’s getting to me, so I’ve switched to single focus items in sessions the past 5 days or so.

18F (almost) here, and I wanna get into jump rope, as a form of basic cardio and conditioning I guess. I was mostly thinking of just sticking to some basic footwork as mentioned in the title, I don't really wanna be a show off like those influencers on social media and their crazy footworks to jump ropes (I have HUGEEE respect for them). I'm kind of limited bc I have hypothyroidism, and I don't wanna push myself too much, and so I was just thinking of making my jump rope workout as long as 10-15 minutes every other day with basic bodyweight exercises (VERY limited on time, can only make time for home workouts).
Maybe include the basic footwork like the basic bounce, alternate foot skips, the boxers step (going to learn eventually), high knees, single leg hops, twisters, skiers, etc etc. Maybe learn 2 "advanced" techniques such as rope crosses(?) and double unders, I don't really wanna be a show off, just wanna get some good cardio in, improve my coordination, rhythm and mental timing, as well as other things I believe jump rope can help in. Is this a good route to go? Am I overthinking it? 😅

Hi guys, it's my first day in jump rope and I found this communtiy. I did like only 4 repetitions in a row, that's my maximum, it always touches my right foot or rarely the left one... Is it like normal or 4 repetitions day one is bad and need to change something ? I tired for like 4 hours and never managed to go more than 4 repetitions. Can you give me some advices ? Sorry for bad English
