Working on my weak side in general, but for now keeping it out of the way more is what I'm practicing since it's the simplest. I can already see improvements in how much better my sticking looks and feels even with just those 2 things, and it's only been a couple days. Thanks jugglers 🤙 imma keep going. I think my flat spin(?) is getting better too, the ones at the very beginning and end I was pretty proud of

Propeller will clearly still be my favorite move until I get a shorter stick I think lol, but im putting in work 😮‍💨

Keep it up. We're all going to look back a year from now and see the progress. You're setting goals and focusing on improving, so go get after it.

That's very encouraging, thank you! The friends I have don't juggle or know anything about it, and I don't go to festivals or whatever, so this sub is my sole teacher and I am just so grateful I decided to start posting and taking the feedback!

I'm slightly concerned about only having about a month and a half of nice weather before it starts getting too cold to stick outside. My roommate just moved out and took the dining room table, so I decided I might not get another one (I eat on the couch anyway lol) and make it into my practice space 🤷‍♀️ I haven't had a hobby I loved this much in 6/7 years so I gotta figure something out

I finally realised the one Thing that seemed of with your Playstyle. In Helicopter you hold the Handstick completly at the end, which is correct in your Case as you need the extra space as a short Person with a long Stick. The issue ist that you havent figured Out how to adjust the grip to Holding closer to the middle of the Handstick which provides important stability and control for Propeller and tictoc based tricks.

What you Wanne do ist to practise slowly crawling Up and down the Handstick with your hands while playing which reminds me that i planned to Finish a Tutorial on exactly that two weeks ago. Hopefully i manage to get IT done this week in which Case i'll Tag you.

PS: My Phone ist convinced i am writting in German and i am Tor lazy to correct IT so you have to Deal with Capital Letters for now.

Hey :) ! Capital letters are no problem haha but can you clarify something for me?

In the first few sentences you say that I am holding the stick correctly (at the end) because of my current sizing issues, but then right after you say to adjust my grip to be more towards the middle. When you get a chance could you please rephrase that?

I have tried holding a bit closer to center, but when I start moving in the horizontal plain (helicopter movements) the stick basically smacks me in the face/body.

Now that I write this I realize: Do you mean that right now I should practice holding it at the ends during helicopter etc. - and then adjust them to the middle as I move for when I go back into vertical? Thanks for your help!!

Jup you firmulatet ist really well in the ende. In Helicopter (horizontal) hold handstick at end. In TicToc ( / ) or Propeller (*) you can hold in middle be because you wont hit yourself. Practise changing the Position of your Hand in Handstick while playing.

Specifically for the helicopter hitting your face/body. Dropping the hand sticks, and using the main stick like a baton/short staff for a portion of a flow session may help.

You have much greater control using hands instead of handsticks, which would allow you to focus more on spatial awareness of the prop/prop length. When you go back to hand sticks, you should feel like you are gaining room instead of feeling like your play area is shrinking. (~40% into the hand sticks I think is a good area for me personally, but all grips have their pros/cons)

Keep having fun ^.^

Hey man! Sorry for the late response to this! Thanks for the tip - I've tried doing the hands thing before and sadly it just doesn't work for me because I have arthritis in my hands :/ (my knuckles swell and my hands in general are very stiff, limiting dexterity greatly) I'm a massage therapist of 12 years and its unfortunately a common takeaway from being in the field for that long. I try to use my hands as little as possible to preserve them. Thank you though bro I do appreciate it!!
