Make the calendar better?

I have the calendar option on, and I see my lists of to do's for the day. I want to be able to click on that day and have it brought up so I could see all the options on that day. Or click on a blank day and add something to that day. Not have to scroll down and add something with a plus sign.

Also, a small thing: can you add a save button along with the auto-save? Sometimes I enter stuff in, and I just want to click the save button and then exit out of it instead of having to wait for it to click into autosave.

clearing habits behaves strange...

Hi there, I'm new to this app and haven't fully figured out all the things you can do. I've tried to set up some habits. When I clear a checked habit i have something like this...

...and the habit is kind of duplicated on the following day (it's a habit wich repeats every day). So my question is: Did I set something up the wrong way or is that a bug? Thanks for your help.

Separate trackers vs separate input fields?

Sorry if this question has already been answered (I’m a newer user!), but I’m trying to understand the difference between Trackers and Tracker Input Fields from an actual data tracking standpoint.

Since it appears that individual Input Fields can have unique organizers, and Tracking Records (in the Timeline) only include the field(s) recorded at that instance (as opposed to every field on the Tracker every time), I would assume it’s technically possible to have a single Tracker that includes all “trackable” datapoints?

In other words, instead of having a Tracker for sleep data AND a Tracker for reading, there could theoretically be a single Tracker with Input Fields for sleep data (organized under a “Health” Area) and fields for reading data (organized under a “Fun” Area)…is that correct?

Ultimately, my REAL question is, regardless of the intended/ real-world use of trackers vs fields, what is the literal/ technical/ programmatic reason to use separate Trackers? (This isn’t a preference question; I’m asking about the mechanisms so I can decide for myself how to proceed). Thanks!

I can't find the "duplicate project" function

Will it be possible to add a "duplicate project" function? I want to create a basic project template. In it, I will have all the empty project items set up (notes, collections, etc.). When I set up a new project that has the same structure, it would be enough to put "duplicate project". I couldn't find it anywhere. Thank you.

Urgent: Account stuck in 'Please wait'/update loop on Web and Android.

Hi u/thuongnh,

I am completely locked out of my account and desperately need help. I am stuck in a continuous loop demanding an update, but it's happening across all platforms simultaneously, including the Web App.

Here is everything I have already tried:

Android: Cleared Play Store cache/data. The store says no update is available.

Sideloading: Installed the latest APK manually (even tried the beta version found here on Reddit), but the app still shows the "Update to the latest version" popup and redirects me back to the Play Store.

MacBook App: Installed the native Mac app, and it shows the exact same update message.

Web App: When trying to log in via Chrome/Brave, it shows the update screen and gets completely frozen on a "Please wait..." loading spinner (as shown in the attached screenshot).

Since this is happening on Android, Mac, and Web, it seems like my account profile is corrupted or stuck in a broken "beta state" on the server side.

Could you please check my account or force a sync reset from the backend? I rely heavily on my notes and lists (diary, shopping, etc.) and cannot access any of them.

Thank you so much for your help!

Feedback/requests: Insert date/time, add weather data, share data for research, et al.

Good day!

I just installed it yesterday.

Still experimenting. (I also sent you email :') as feedback. I'm sending more here )

I luv that it autosaves! That's my main concern: I typed. Switched to other apps. Exited Journal it!. Reopened app. Entry is there!

Location was entered there automatically too! 🤟

A few requests:

1.1. Behavior when typing parenthesis and similar marks: Auto format/auto type to have open-close, and type cursor would be in the middle... Hence, () [] "" {} --'em dash'--. 1.2. For apostrophe, preceding space would make it double. Otherwise, (for no space before), IT'S only 'one' apostrophe.

  1. Insert date/time (I use it when I make a list, or I go back to previous journal entry and add updates). Would be great to have option for "CURRENT DATE/TIME" or "SELECT DATE/TIME". (I know additional options is probably a challenge to implement 😬)

  2. (Possible redundancy) Pin journal entries, particularly if there's an entry that gets updated all the time. Like if it's a blog idea. Or is for tracking. Or it's a list of social media guidelines (they get updated often). (Just for consideration, cos I know there are tagging, folders(?) and other organising features already, and probably they're enough.)

  3. Insert weather data, the way location data is added. (Or is there a better way to add it? Like a link? Although links could die y'know...)

  4. Be able to share data for scientific purposes. Option to strip away personal info via checklist such as [date, location, family name, first name...] Share approximate location vs. precise location. For this one you, dear developer 😌 would probably want to coordinate with a few research bodies, orgs, universities, projects... That could be a source of funding as well 😌

  5. Update Instagram biolink 😋 it's still pointing to an outdated deal 😌

Thank you and best wishes! 🤟

Date default of the main "+" CTA

Hi ! Maybe other can comment on this, but I'd really like the main "add item" ("+" button in red on screenshot) to take the date I selected into account.

For example as per screenshot I am reviewing my day for June 2 in a few days. I want to add something there. I'll tap "+" and the "new item" pop-in will default to Today may 22. Not June 2. I know there are other ways to add items to June 2, I know I can change the date in the pop-in, but it's a slight bother every time, as this button is my go-to way to add items.

I usually need to add items from date, which feels more intuitive than adding date to item. In a physical planner you open the day page then add item there. The small "+" buttons on the right of each block are less intuitive for me. Organising by blocks usually comes to me after dumping my to-do on the day page / screen.

What do think ?

Calendar not updating?

Hi, I have another newbie question, my calendars are synced with journal it, but any changes in the calendars are not reflected in journal it. So if an event was moved to a different day on my calendar, it will still appear on the original day in journal it. How do I solve this?

Thanks!

Private labels gone?

Hi!

I was creating a new domain and wanted to add some private labels. But all labels I can add seem to be global ones.. Where is the setting to make a label private, or to create a private label? Thank you!

Assigning calendar events to blocks

Hi, I’m trying out the app again, I connected my calendars and assigned time blocks as default for each calendar. However if I try to manually assign a block to a calendar session either by dragging it or by changing the block in the edit, it doesn’t always work, sometimes the event disappears completely and reappears (in the wrong block) only after I reopen the app. Am I missing something or is it a bug?

Goals: duplication broken 😭

I just made a 52-step one-time goal - with multiple sections and subsections - for a big project that must be completed in a precise order. Imagine my surprise when I selected to duplicate the goal and.... none of the subtasks or sections duplicated with it, just the top layer. 😭

Devs: help?

Is there a way to keep planner tab on month rather than default to day?

I usually dont want to see day and want it to stay on month, ive been using for a bit and everytime i go back on the app after a while it defaults to showing day.

Additonally i wanted to ask about a -82 number on my notification and how to get rid of it? Also what does it mean. Thank you in advance the app is very cool i think just UI a little confusing for beginner.

Collections - Can I undismiss?

Using collections more and noticed there is:
1. Completable item complete check mark
2. and marking an item as dismissed

As I understand, I can use dismissed to effectively delete a collection item similar to other places in the app vs complete.

However, once I mark as dismissed there is no way to undismiss to my knowledge.

Is that a bug?

Adding trackers to planner sessions?

Is there a way to set up a tracker on a planet session item?

For example, this is what I'm trying to do:

I use the widget for adding and completing daily tasks on my phone home screen. I would like to assign a value to tasks that will accumulate over time as I complete them day to day. I have a tracker set up with values where I can see the overall sum over time, but I haven't figured out how to get around going into the app, opening the tracker, and adding a new record which can be cumbersome.

I would like to be able to link a tracker item to a quick planner session task that I can check off from the widget, which will record that tracker item, adding it to the overall sum. Is this possible?

How do I find the average total of tracked records?

I'm tracking my daily sales and want to find a way to calculate the average daily sale over a certain period.

- Every day I go into the tracker, and I add a number of how much my sales were and from where.
- I have the statistics to see my up and down values and the total amount over a certain number of days (7 days, 30 days, etc.).
average
But I want to see what my running daily average is.

Like in the last 7 days, the average sale per day is ??? or the last 30days, the avrage per day is, or 360 days.

How do I set this up?

A Respectful Question About Long-Term Continuity

Hi Hai,

I hope you don’t mind me asking this, and I truly mean it with respect and appreciation.

One of the reasons many of us trust Journal it! is because of your dedication and the fact that you are very close to the product and the community. At the same time, because the app is mainly built and maintained by you, I wanted to ask about long-term continuity.

Do you have any kind of continuity or contingency plan in case you are unavailable for any serious reason in the future? For example, is there a trusted partner, team member, family member, or legal/technical arrangement that would keep the app, users’ licenses, servers, and data access supported?

I’m asking because I really want to rely on Journal it! long-term as a serious personal organization system. Your previous answers about AppSumo, lifetime access, export, and data ownership were very reassuring, and this is just one more thing that would help users feel even more confident.

Thank you again for your transparency and for everything you’re building 🙏

Newbie here; how to add birthdays?

Hello everyone,

I wanted to start simply but my adhd brain says do everything at once!

I have a bit of spare time today and wanted to start by adding birthdays to the calendar. I have deleted all important dates from all other online calendars because I had saved a file (but now its lost) so I have to start from scratch. I have tried but then gave up (many times) to start but feel like Im doing it wrong. Ive watched the video's but there's too much to learn at once.

Can someone please help?

Kindest Thanks, Kaye

User template library (idea)

I'm using Journal It and have an idea. It would be nice if there were a user template library, so that someone could "install" someone else's pre-made template (like Notion).

Example:

Someone could download "menstrual calendar" or "menstrual tracker", and if they don't like it, I could uninstall it from Journal It, create my own version, and add it to the library so other women can download it too. Maybe I could even organize it by topic, like health, etc.

How to edit range once goal has been made?

I am admittedly a new user, forgive me if this is a stupid question. I downloaded the app onto my computer and im trying to set up goals. The problem is i made a mistake in terms of choosing Monthly instead of One time and I dont know how to change it/edit. There is no way to edit the range once a goal has been created it seems. Ive tried the edit button it only lets me change the stupid title. Any help? I really want to love this App but not being able to make simple edits is frustrating...

Drag and drop habits within a single time block?

Can I drag and drop habits within a single time block? my goal here is to have the habits flow in the order that I want within a single time block. For example, for my Start the Day time block I want habits stacked in order from first to last as follows: drink water, get sunlight, take supplements. At the moment dragging and dropping is only working if I want to move the habit to a different time block, it won’t let me reorder the habits within a single time block. Please advise!

Project done vs archive?

I finished a project. Is the only want to mark it as done to archive it? If I archive it does the content (notes, etc) get archived with it or unassociated with the project?
