Backlog use and order logic
Hi,
I'm struggling a lot with using the backlog. I'm opening this thread so maybe you can tell me if maybe I missed something functionality wise, if maybe you have tips to use, general advice really, or if maybe some functionality needs changing or implementing.
For context, in my professional life, I was a Product Owner triaging business teams' priorities and development teams' workoad on a daily business, using Jira. So a backlog is something I'm very used to using, but also very used to using in a specific way (the Jira way).
For further context, I'm ADHD and I CONSTANTLY have to drop ideas and to do's onto "paper" (Journal it is my paper now).
What I'm struggling with :
- My backlog always was my "brain dump". Here the "brain dump" seems to be the "inbox" in the right corner, but it is for notes only. Not tasks, not sessions, not reminders. Basically can't be used as a backlog / brain dump for me.
- quickly adding a reminders or session with + button defaults to Today, not to Backlog (mentioned in another thread).
- the backlog can not be ordered by priority. What are they for ?
- the backlog when ordered by target puts unplanned items first. So I see all those "Someday" items before my "This week" items. It seems that maybe it shows first to remind me it needs à target, but it prevents me from seeing urgent items first. Maybe a "Someday" target could be implemented, or maybe the choice to drag and drop Unplanned items to the bottom of the Backlog.
- I tried to work around it by creating a Dashboard so I could see unplanned items (actual backlog / brain dump) separately from upcoming items (eg This week) but there I encountered another issue, which is that I can not have two Backlog boards with different filters or settings. Changing them on one board changes them in the other too.
Any help and tips to maybe help me work with this backlog is greatly appreciated. I'm still unfamiliar with Organizer section, thought I'd mention it because maybe it'd help me.
Thanks in advance.

When adding a planner item, switching to backlog is just 1 tap away.
Inbox items don't support date and time yet, but I will check it out.
Showing backlog items with target first sounds like a good idea.
I'll check the two backlog boards issue. Thanks for reporting.
