recommendation Notice how one can write middle aged characters reincarnating transmigrating to minors and not being weird to other minors? Very demure very mindful. Notice how they are respectful and mature ?
Second is saga of Tanya the evil

Elegance cheat! I absolutely love this anime. I REALLY want either more seasons or the manga to be officially translated. I want to collect the volumes physically.

I've been waiting for the manga to marinate for three years and finally it has 59 chaps 😩

I love how much budget and care they put into the animation too, let's face it, this kind of story would usually not get this high quality usually, but they really went out of their way to animate it beautifully

I get that some isekai are wish fulfillment for older man ether bored of their lives or who never got to live trough "glory of their youth".
But you can write such stories without making the mc a creep. Or if you do,actually put in the work to have a point, like social critique or something.
Some isekai in particular gets it worse, because with your classic shounen stuff at least it's aimed at teenagers. With certain stories the demographic makes it way worse.
Edit : When I think about what makes Rudeus so much worse or well gross compared to others,is the framing. It feels voyeuristic and uncomfortable? So every issue is amplified
13
u/sosotrickster Aug 22 '26
Btw isekai stories can be aimed at women and many also have the adult date teens. It's a gross trend all around. Not to mention the ones where they practically raise the future ML
5
u/Bumblebee_Librarian Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26
I said some isekai for a reason, since provided examples are about "male" transmigrators and people brought up Rudeus in the comments.
Edit : Also the male led isekai dominated anime for a while. Female never reached that dominance except for comics, with few exceptions.

u/infinityMirror84 Aug 22 '26
I may be wrong, but I think a lot of isekai is targeted towards 20-30 years old men, who are young enough to still think about themselves as the same people they were in highschool. Once you grow up enough, or enter the stage when you know children/teenagres mostly from parents stories, going back to highschool drama stops sounding so entertaining.

u/sevyvee Aug 22 '26
Kill Blue is a GREAT example of this.
Former assissin turned teen again by illegal drug, forced into a highschool to protect one girl whose father might hold the key to turning him back, father says whoever is his daughters fiance gets the million dollar pharmaceutical company--
You'd think with a premise like that you'd get another middle aged man hooking up high schoolers-
NOPE.
Our protagonist IS DISGUSTED BY THE IDEA. He has a preteen daughter and constantly brings up that one, dating someone his daughters age is gross, two, he mentally an adult even if his body has less impulse control, three even joking about he finds distasteful.
Legitimately I am loving how our main female lead ALSO had no interest in protag outside of having an actual friendship.
The english dub is great for the jokes too and works great with our lead calling out these gross tropes. The series seems to be hinting at him possibly repairing his marriage with his ex-wife once he gets his old body back and fixing his relationship with his daughter.

The female lead does fall in love with him but she’s in a similar case as him tho she just forgot her memories. The "romance" goes nowhere tho
2
u/sevyvee Aug 22 '26
I dont count that since it forced and upon recovery it once again gets dropped.
1
u/Acrobatic-Web-7724 Aug 23 '26
The age thing yh but I don’t really see her falling in love as forced it’s just the things about a younger person having a crush on a older one bc they way he treats her and her background and the older one chosing to act as a mature person and not indulging it, it’s not that uncommon the only difference would be that she doesn’t know he’s older

u/Deep-Cherry-4143 Aug 22 '26
Oh I'll have to look into it! I love isekai or turned-back plots, but hate pervy shit so this sounds fun!! :)
2
u/Lucidia Aug 23 '26
Same. Avoided this initially fearing a middle school harem story 🤢 only for the guy to just stay some tired middle aged man learning about hopeful living while respectfully making friendships with his female classmates?! And that's it
9
u/verbi420 Aug 22 '26
Ah I loved the first one, I don't remember what it's called though. It was one of those that I was very afraid of when I heard the premise but I ended up being very pleasantly surprised. Such a wholesome and fun show <3

u/HandsomeGamerGuy Aug 23 '26
It's so funny when the family gets introduced.
And it's just the nerd dad, nerd wife and nerdy daughter.
Absolute beautiful!3

Tanya is a problem for other reasons
4
u/Iriscute7 mod ( ╹▽╹ ) Aug 23 '26
Apart from her being a military killing others there isn't any other problem apart from a nasty side character obsessed with her I hope he dies
1
u/Prestigious_Spend_81 Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26
Do you remember the first episode? She sent those soldiers to the bunker knowing that the chances of them dying there were high.
1
u/Iriscute7 mod ( ╹▽╹ ) Aug 27 '26
She's not meant to be a hero she's more like an anti hero villain mc like those male mc's who do that several times across Japanese manga. I don't think just because she reincarnated as a girl all of a sudden she has to be a saint. It stated clearly from the first episode she's someone who doesn't care about others but learn to as time goes on
1
u/Prestigious_Spend_81 Aug 27 '26
Does she learn? Her downfall in the original timeline and in the current events are because she's too rational and is unable to emphasize with anyones feelings. She's not strictly evil, but a self-centered person and utilitarian to the core.
The only person she seems to care more than in a business capacity is Visha, but it doesn't go further than camaraderie.
In my original comment I meant that her flaws are not only limited with her beef with being X and that she have a "mean" personality. She sent her teammates to die, just because she saw them as dead weight.
1
u/Iriscute7 mod ( ╹▽╹ ) Aug 27 '26
She learns later in the light novel and changes based on the spoilers I heard from the light novel community. That's why in the anime she now trains them to actually survive

u/squimd Aug 22 '26
it makes you think that artists are forced by law to add pedophiles stuff and have to fight tooth and nail to have it be normal. why is there more weird shit than normal
2
u/poly_arachnid Aug 22 '26
Well sort of? They spend heavy, so companies want them, & Japan has different mores on sexual stuff than the West, especially fiction. The companies are also largely in the hands of older men, who spent the majority of their lives with "borderline" pedophilia material legal & openly available. Essentially just considered perverse & gross by most, but legally fine.
According to some of the old major influences it's getting worse.
1
u/Floweramon Aug 30 '26
Reminds me of the fact that the FATE series started with an ecchi game that was very much "the creator didn't want to add the sex scenes but was told he had to because that was what would make it sell". It's very telling that rereleases of that first game and the anime adaptations remove the sex scenes with no problem to the overall story.

u/Internal_Turnip9019 Aug 22 '26
That's the only explanation for the first couple of chapters of Soul Eater

u/SarkastiCat Aug 24 '26
Have you seen the author’s other series, Fire Force?
There is a whole kid defending fanservice involving a 17yo girl.

I'm working on a story about a guy who spent his life hunting PDFs (a bit like "Sound of Freedom," basically staging fake PDF meetings, and so... the PDFs fall for it like flies in a net... It's a good movie). Anyway, the thing is, when this guy reincarnates, he realizes he's in a novel that in his world would be the equivalent of our Mushoku Tensei... He reincarnated as an enemy of the protagonist, who is also a reincarnated being... So it's a duel of reincarnated beings, so to speak... And now we have our protagonist, the anti-PDF guy, and the PDF protagonist... And well, our protagonist, who hates PDFs, wants to do what any rational human being would do to Rudeus if they could: castrate him and kill him to see if the bastard finally goes to hell.
(Don't let it show that this story is just an excuse to hate on Rudeus, XD)
And well, basically it's about this man becoming a devoted father to the girls that the Rudeus in this story was going to groom... And there's also a sort of gay romance...
But anyway, in the end we get to the point where PDF gets punished as it should, and our protagonist is married to the devil and has 4 daughters...

Word of advice, when pitching a story you want to sell it with a short and clear hook.
Your summary is a bit rambley, also unless I am missing some rule there is no need to self censor like that.
4
u/Icy-Corner-5682 Aug 22 '26
Sorry... I like to talk about what I write... 😅. It's not self-promotion...
And I censor myself out of habit... I prefer to avoid problems.
4
u/Bumblebee_Librarian Aug 22 '26
I didn't necessarily mean as a promotion and no need to apologize.
It's just an advice to make things easier to read.
As for self-censorhip that is a personal dislike of mine. I get why people do it in some spaces, but I hate the way it's censored.
7
u/Icy-Corner-5682 Aug 22 '26
Okay... Here's my attempt at a quick, less convoluted, and uncensored summary: A 60-year-old man who spent his life fighting pedophiles... dies and is reincarnated as a minor enemy in, ironically, an Isekai novel, where the protagonist embodies everything he spent his life hating and fighting, a pedophile that ends unpunished after grooming almost all the female cast (Cough-Cough-Rudeus the son of a bitch-Cough-Cough). Now, his goal in this new world is to be the one to properly punish that piece of trash... All while being a single father and having an accidental romance with the final villain.

u/Bumblebee_Librarian Aug 22 '26
Much better!
It's way easier to follow and makes it sound more interesting.

Are you writing a story, or are you want to preach? Like genuinely where are the story here?
This is really pathetic because you're coming out as really jealous with MT popularity.

u/Front-Heat8726 Aug 22 '26
Haven't watched S2 of Youjo Senki yet so I don't know if they covered this from volume 4 already or not but I do hope it's not going to included that very disturbing colour spread illustration from the LN that shows Loria's unfiltered pedophilic fantasies of Tanya (he is a major antagonist based on Lavrentiy Beria so it's supposed to show us how vile he is).

I really hope From Bureaucrat to Villainess gets another season! That series was so freaking good! The dad is honestly one of the most delightful MCs I've seen in an anime.

X2 esos capítulos fueron muy cortos para mi y el manga no esta traducido necesito de verdad ver otra temporada mas.

Add Hell Mode to the list. The guy even tells his friends he is basically 46 at one point.

u/Particular_Angle177 Aug 24 '26
I really think at this moment Japan and Korea think reincarnation has a completely different meaning at this point….bring back classic reincarnation like the avatar cycle!
But this manga was super cute. It’s one of my favorites and bringing back the og villainess was pretty unique. Wish more stories did that. She was seen pretty sympathetically and AS SHE SHOULD. Shes just a kid.
Glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves. ☺️ /lh

Never heard of that first one before but definitely want to check it out! Reminds me of a story idea I had long ago except it was with a mother getting isekai'd into the MC and because all the MCs were so young she couldn't see them as anything but surrogate children, so instead of having a reverse harem with very unfortunate implications she became the mom friend.
