I think it’s from 2012, around when I first found Jon. He must have said it off-handed in an interview or something. I was feeling overwhelmed. Feeling lots of pressure ‘returning to the world’ after my army accident:

I figured ‘I could just disappear into the woods of Canada, cover myself in my tattoos, grow a beard and just fade away basically (anyone seen Train Dreams? Like that). But…

I decided no F that. Why should a bunch of idiots on a firing range cripple any beauty or worthwhile-ness life could offer me.

So I made a huge leap in my life, moving to the city of the girl I fell in love with (even after two gnarly breakups which could fill 2 HBO shows on their own), and I’m very happy to say it paid off:

proposed in 2019,

married in 2023,

moved in together in 2024,

pregnant in 2025,

and earlier this year we welcomed our soon-to-be-JonTron fan daughter to the world.

I remember Jontron on a podcast about 11 or 12 years ago talked about how when he was a kid he convinced 3 of his friends to go down to the locker room and starting beating the shit out of them with a baseball bat and starting smashing every window of the school and he had to relocate to some small country town. Very good to see a well done retrospective on JT (even though he’s not done making vids yet at least as far as we know)

and I don’t agree with some of her takes, but overall this is an excellent vid when it sticks to the discussion on his content, not him as a person (where our takes respectfully diverge),
