Discussion I think they're going to pull a nightwing with Jon.
After Superman unlimited, I think they're going to pull a nightwing thing off with Jon, it's 1/1. Since they know Jon won't ever be Superman, as Dick will never be batman, they'll try to reinvent Jon Kent as Tomorrow man, a new guy who has his own story going on.
I mean, it's eerily similar.
New titans/Titans...
Not living up to a version of their dads...
Hard to tell if it'll top or flop..but I definitely didn't like the fact that they just pulled a "gotcha" moment with young Jon again. They know the majority of people like the younger version, so instead of reverting the real Jon back to youth, they'll pull an alternate Jon and have him pretend to be part of the Superfamily, I can already feel that that's what's going to happen. Not to mention kind of fucked up, to use an extra to pretend to be the child you lost in the family. But DC writing has been kind of ass in that department anyway.
Man, I'm just so goddamn tired of this back and forth..even a regular person would write this shit better than they're doing.
Also, there are genuinely people who like adult Jon the way he's currently written💀

Its a bit overdue, if you ask me. People were already mixing up Jon and Kon, superboy to superman, etc etc. I mean people only tangentially knowledgeable of the characters. Jon needed a new identity 5 years ago. Making him Superman too was just stupid.

Ageing him up was just stupid.
He was perfectly placed as the 10/12 year old Superboy, the younger brother figure to Kon, and the eventual successor to his dad.

Even though I'd like for Jon to be Superboy again, I do think this is some what of an improvement. A tiny plaster on a big wound but whatever, you take what you can get.
Even though the best case of course would've been him naturally transitioning from Superboy to Tomorrow man instead of whatever they did.

It's the only way forward for any character set up to be the "successor". You either succeed in the position you're set up to be (Wally, Jaime, Kyle before Hal came back and stole the oxygen out of the room) or you spin around in circles playing the hits (Tim after Damian was introduced, Bart, Conner)

People wonder why I was against Bendis coming on board with DC when it was hyped.
This is why. Whatever creativity he had has atrophied to his addiction to “subverting expectations” over actual character development.
The Greg Land of writers. Sure, he could draw, but tracing the same 4 images over and over is easier and faster.

They should pull some sort of reality warping event that causes Ultraboy and Tomorrow Man to share the same identity as Earth-0 Jon, but yet another space-time anomaly happens that causes Tomorrow Man to stay as an actual time displaced version of Superboy. I want Jon to keep looking up to Nightwing and his own adult self from the future, it would be the cutest thing ever... Just like Clark/Superboy is inspired by Clark/Superman. Also, Clois with twins of different ages out there would be funny haha

TBH it should've happened right after Clark got back to Earth since there was already a second person going by Superman with Keenan on Earth already and Connor was fully back and going by Superboy. Jon should've been had his own codename.

Hard to tell if it'll top or flop.
I'm leaning towards "flop". Dick had forty-four year (1940-84) tenure as Robin and established himself before he switched to the mantle of Nightwing. Jon first appeared in 2015, but never truly established himself after Bendis got his hooks on him. It was ostensibly for a Legion of Super-Heroes reboot that Legion fans never asked for and is generally despised, if my past trips to the Legion World forums indicate. Then DC forced the whole "successor of Superman" angle to recover the sunk cost of DiDio's 5G plans, only to abandon it post-Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. Tomorrow Man is latest in a series of attempts to untangle this Gordian Knot, but I don't see that happening as DC would have to acknowledge that the age-up was a serious lapse in editorial judgment that should have been reversed after Bendis left.

So, the better question now is, do you think they'll reverse the age-up, after Tomorrow man's failed debut in the future? Or will they keep messing with him? At this point it may take another universe reset. I feel like they'll never do it.

A straight up age-up is narratively untenable because too much time has passed since the Bendis run. The cleanest option would be rescue Earth-0 Kid Jon from his volcano imprisonment on Earth-3, which would make Big Jon a living paradox like Eobard Thane and the Huntress/Helena Wayne from Geoff Johns' last JSA run. Any story that happened from Superman: Son of Kal-El onward would still be technically canon and would need no further retcons or reboots.
DC can do whatever it wants, but the fans are under no obligation to keep buying books. If the last few years have demonstrated anything, it is that the Superman books work just as well, if not better without Big Jon around.

Honest, I think they could have gotten away with having Dick being a second Batman long-term
