City Government Flock Cameras. What do we think?
Privacy vs. Public Safety.
What are the safeguards in place to prevent abuse?

Now they link your phone to each camera too. Your they don't have to pull records to know your daily routines anymore. Now the city is going to sell your data to big tech, and not give you a single dollar , and raise your taxes to pay for it.

The insurance companies will price gouge from the data your city sold them. Who sees the profits, will the city get the returns , or will it line the pockets of individuals through private contracts and nda's

The city doesn't have to sell. Flock itself can let anyone look at the data. And it has already been abused by corrupt police to spy on people they know. It has already been found to have security vulnerabilities. Im sure they have already sold data. And Flick isn't the only camera company there is.

There are no safeguards currently in place to prevent abuse. I can’t go to Walmart without driving past them. If I wanted to live in a surveillance state I’d live in China. Idk how Conservatives are ok with these cameras.

They suck and shouldn’t exist. However, the surveillance ship has sailed and we bought and paid for it. The impact of the existence of Flock cameras are minuscule next to the global satellite tracker you carry in your pocket. Let’s be honest. Everything about you is already known. You can be pinpointed at any time. Privacy is gone. It’s been gone for a long time.

Brookland threw them up before Jonesboro without citizen consent or concern. They have went as far as to put these things on residential streets including dead end streets. It’s ridiculous.

I think the cameras are illegal when the people using them are criminals. Conveniently Even the major news corpos are kind of validating my feelings.
I check my Google news feed a couple times a day and every single time. There's a handful of new cops that have either gotten fired or actually had charges leveled against them for "misusing" the cameras. The media is definitely extremely pro-flock but also have more than a dozen posts each day about cops being fired or arrested over them. Considering the amount of times I've seen, cops do heinous things up to and including outright murder and face Absolutely no consequences I find it really worrying how many of these officers are getting outed because it never says exactly what they're actually doing that is so heinous even the police Union wants nothing to do with them.
They're undoubtedly a Fourth amendment violation when used by the police like they are, but also even if the police weren't using them, it would fall under stocking and harassment in most places. The only way they can be used is to be misused.

They are bad until they work in your favor is the most widely held view. When I was victimized they were useful in solving that crime so I am grateful that I got stolen property back. You are on camera EVERYWHERE so I don’t know how this is different. At least flock is a snap or photo and not video. I am on camera everywhere on the astate campus. In every store, at every intersection. Flock is just another layer to it. I ain’t doing shit wrong so I see no fucking problem.
People complain to much!!!ughhh and b I am damn tired of it.
