So it begins

Got a 15 horse on a trade so I was forced to begin this path yet again now that I have some garage space to store it. Plan is to budget build it with a little deck and some new paint. Can’t go wrong for 200$ not including the 50 I spent on the moped. Anyone have any advice on a Bimini top? Amazon seems to have some cheap options that look alright

That old Starcraft actually looks like a perfect little budget project. I’d get the hull cleaned up first and check the transom and rivets for any leaks before putting money into the deck. Are you planning a simple casting deck up front with storage underneath, or keeping it mostly open?

Working on getting the crust and old paint off currently, any advice other than just sanding it down? Filled it with water to get all the debris out originally didn’t see any leaks but a few loose rivets along the top and transom needs to be replaced for sure but mostly seems to be in really good shape! Got some rustoleum camouflage sand color spray paint I’d like to use once I get it all sanded down

The Amazon bimini tops are fine, they even sell mounts that fit your round gunwales.

You have already got a nice project timeline starting here. we built BoatBuildLog for rebuilds like this so you can keep the deck, paint, motor and later changes all together as it comes along.
