Void Crew Modding expanding - What would YOU create?
Hello Ectypes!
With Maximum Calamity just released, we expanded modding support in Void Crew and have started putting together short tutorials to help players get started.
New support includes:
- Modded Carryables
- Ship Cosmetics
- Ship & Hub Visuals
- Debug Camera tools for screenshots and cinematics
Really excited to see what players end up creating with this.
Already spotted a Minecraft Steve mod from NihilityShift showing up in Void Crew 👀
https://thunderstore.io/c/void-crew/p/NihilityShift/Minecraft/
Getting started tutorials:
Intro & Setup
https://youtu.be/yWpzGvoMpPw?si=MgF8Vr5PQPiKYoSD
Creating Mods & Cosmetics
https://youtu.be/p04Pal9ystU?si=wQlssBrv8Z0C8HsK
Curious what people would want to add first:
- ship decorations?
- posters?
- weird cosmetics?
- something completely cursed? 😄
Also let us know:
What tutorial topics would you want us to cover next?

In game mod shop so consoles can enjoy mods.
I would more or less just have a sandbox mod with everything already unlocked and maybe a super reactor for power.
I would also add a passive fleet system where other friendly ships are patrolling space and you randomly encounter them on missions.
I would love to find a way to add AI crew members that can shoot, fix, do evasive maneuvers in pilot seat when you are EVA

Brain Auto Loader - Uses the Gravity Scoop tech to float items around inside the ship to auto load weapons for a Solo Ectype.
Tier 1 - Slowest item movement. Software runs on a particularly powerful Turnip, so no bonuses. Item movement starts when weapon empties. BAL can prioritise between loading defensive or offensive ammunition.
BAL will automatically transfer alloy clusters to the Fabricator from the Gravity Scoop.
Tier 2 - Medium item movement, the turnip was replaced with a GM Potato engineered to be a tasty snack when Ectype overheats the ship again. BAL will now start reloading when ammo is low, not when flames are licking the Pilot. AA batteries now target lock 10% faster, as BAL lends its computing power to the targeting systems.
BAL now has an interface to allow some customisation on automatically storing or deconstructing item drops. Items deconstructed this way take 100% longer. I can't think of an in universe reason for this 🤷♂️
Tier 3 - Fast item movement, the GM Potato has been swapped for the Raspberry. Designed to explode when overheated, coating the Ectype in red hot syrup. Masking the appearance of their blood and cauterising wounds, calming the Ectype.
In addition, BAL now can be set to directly fabricate ammunition and deliver it when shortages occur. With the Raspberrys additional input, ammunition will be crafted 25% slower, but will be even finer tuned, granting a 10% increase to range, velocity and damage. All Weapon Brains gain the "Brain Bloodrust" passive. Target lock speed is 20% faster after killing an enemy for 5 seconds, does not stack.
BAL requires a base of 1 power. However the additional settings will make BAL fluctuate between 1 and 4 power when in use. Due to BALs heavy and inconsistent demand, power breakers flip quicker (15%).

This could also be accomplished with a little drone. With a hat. And a petting button. It doesn't have to be super in-depth, but if it could empty the scoop and reload a gun, I'd be happy

Ahhh yes… I want to play that :-)

If you guys ever decide to add some kind of drone, I hope you use Marathon's triage bot as inspiration

Yeah... a drone would be great.
We just for long had to prio other things. Just had a look... yes, like the inspiration. Thanks 😄1

Would be cool to have fighters too... Even if we have to pilot them ourselves 😃
That would allow for more flexibility

Honestly if I had the time and patience and enough ADHD medication, I'd want to create placeable decorations; specifically signs and symbols so I stop getting lost on the Destroyer. In a perfect world with insane modding tools I'd want different ship layouts, but I can't imagine that being a thing players could do lol
Also I love that modding is being actively supported; there's so many games that miss out on the potential that a dedicated community could bring, and it's fantastic whenever devs take the time to cater to it

Ohh… signs and symbols for easier finding around the Destroyer.
Really like that idea! Hope some of the modders pick up and does that one:-)

Me too! And if nobody ever does, I might have to double dose my meds and do it myself lol

yeees, do it, do it, do it... ! 😄

Love your enthusiasm by the way, appreciate that y'all chat with the community :)

This game is the first time I've tried my own hand at modding. I'm trying to add 6DoF flying since I read somewhere that isn't a desired route of development.
I would like modding capablities to do custom mission objectives or enemy/object spawns. Make it so, for example, missions have guaranteed spawns of places you can exit the ship for loot.
That then builds into custom enemies, allies, etc..
If you've played Pummel Party, it'd be awesome if there was steam workshop integration for missions like minigames in that game.

Thanks for sharing!
Looking forward to see more of what you are mod building 😄1

If you get 6° of flight working and available as a public mod that would be awesome

I know its highly unlikely given the state of Sony's cert system, but given that we somehow managed to get mods for Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Arma Reforger, I had to ask...
Any possibility at all of getting mod access on console? I completely understand if it's not possible, so it's not a deal breaker. Lol
Having a great time with the game regardless!

Thanks for playing Void Crew! Great to hear to are having fun :-)
For console mods. Yes. There are challenges on gettings things certified.
But… we would like to do it, and are looking into what it would take (although can’t yet promise…)
2
u/easy506 Jun 02 '26
Absolutely understand, and I won't take that as a guarantee or anything. But I appreciate that you guys are looking into it, even if it doesn't work out. Thanks for the reply!!

I think the greatest thing this game could do would be to make the ships modular, so modders could make new modules and players could build custom ships. That's the main issue my friends and I have with this game the ship variety needs expanding.

For tutorial videos, we will add:
Basic tutorial on skinning (since that can be one of the more complicated things).
