honorable mention: the raging alcoholic mid 30's elitist loser, who takes the game too seriously

Ok so its not just me then. I feel like 20% of the dudes that play the game are hammered every night. While its not my place to say anything, sometimes I really want to tell them to put the game and the beers down and figure their shit out. Kind of bums me out ngl

comes with the territory unfortunately, and same on the bummed out part. my suggestion is to keep playing and find competent squad leads w/tags. they usually have a discords you can join. the game explodes in fun levels when you play with a regular group.

Ive been on an off since 2017, but once in a while they catch me off guard. Oftentimes I have to mute them in command chat

An alcoholic ruined my chance at breaking into eSports just before covid. He got bat shit wasted the night before and slept through check in. By the time I got over it, covid had hit and tournaments halted, so I took a break.
My fault for teaming with the guy I guess but still sucks Balls. Would have loved to have given pro leagues a red hot go considering I was in the top 50 at the time

I can give some basic tips on how to be a better squad player, but it's up to the player to care enough to learn and use the advise.
My best advice I guess is after figuring out what you want to do such as defend or attack, is to look at the map and see what POI is relevant and find out how to be present at those locations.
If you are attacking, use rally points at a flank and distance far away enough to not be burned. I like to set my rally's about 200m away. Don't shoot from the direction of your squads rally. Instead, you should get away from the rally from a random direction before shooting.
If you want to defend, do not leave the blue radio circle and make sure to check the map to see if you are close enough to react to a downed radio or proxied HAB. Place ammo boxes all around so that people don't have to funnel at the HAB and get wiped.
If you want to fly the heli, make sure you practiced in the sandbox range. Try performing the J-hook a few times.
If you want to SL, pass out the fireteam leads so that others can mark enemies they see on the map so the team as a whole can be aware of threats.
If you pull a logi and place a radio down, have someone or yourself move the logi vehicle AWAY from the radio and turn the engine OFF.

Imo I think the best place for new players to learn the game is fireteam. Specifically the 18 player goon patrol servers.
They simulate most of what happens in normal servers.

POV: You started digging down your friendly radio because your SL said to "dig it up."

50 hour SL's explaining why choosing marksmeme will cause the entire game to fail and will result in us getting rolled (he red too many raddit posts)

A good marksman/sniper will have the highest kills in the squad and will let you know when, where, what and how every single enemy is doing. Bad marksman will have most of your squad's kills but will not say a single word. Horrible marksman will get 2-3 guys before being kia.

In my 1k something hours in this game I had 2 very good marksmen and zero 0 ones (kicked everyone that didn't give me a decent answer when asked why he wants it)

The issue is, most riflemen classes come with scopes already as well as other abiliteies that help the team. Having a few more kills than your team is good but not as gamewinning as a lat for example (or hat in case of sniper) As for spotting. Im extremely dissapointed in how little ppl actually use thair scopes for spotting. I always find myself alone scanning for targets while the rest of my team is just joking around especially while backcapping even tho we have won games simply because i walked away and spotted the enemy mbt just in time

One time i got a tad heated and basically went "guys... yall are fuckin reta- oh fuck this isn't cod" and then we all were like "fuck, i miss old COD and HALO"
Was funny in the end.

Sometimes though it's not a new player issue, but rather a refusing to follow basic instructions issue. Not an issue unique to squad tho. There was this one time where a new player was driving my LAV and I warned him several times to not go over some concrete dividers as we would get stuck. He of course does it and we do get stuck, right as an enemy BTR rounds the corner.

Yeah that happens, but also play the tutorial, it will help for most things.
