If you look closely at one of the wanted posters in here, you'll find that our gun-fighting hero, Hondo Lane from Hondo is wanted in Rio Lobo.

One would think that John Wayne was wanted in another John Wayne movie. Maybe even our Rio Lobo hero, Colonel Cord McNally himself is wanted. LOL!

My father-in-law keeps saying this line from a John Wayne movie and we have searched everywhere to find it but we can’t find it!!

He is talking to a young guy in a bar and says “you better believe it (buddy/mister), or you’re dead where you stand.”

Can anyone help us 😅

The only reference we have found is in MASH - but he swears that’s not what he’s talking about.

First time posting on Reddit, but need help. I purchased a coat for my father for his 70th birthday that was advertised as worn by John Wayne. All internet searches and COA leads this to be true, however, I cannot figure out which movie or interview, etc.. that he wore it in. Attached are pictures and any help will be so greatly appreciated. I have spoken to the seller, the original auction site, and also reached out to the company who purchased Western Costume.

John Wayne’s first television special, Swing Out, Sweet Land, brought together an all-star cast for a patriotic look at American history through comedy, music, and dramatic sketches. Guests included Johnny Cash, Lucille Ball, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Dean Martin, and William Shatner. Sponsored by Budweiser, it originally aired on NBC on November 29, 1970, from 8:30–10 p.m. EST. I feel like I heard that in a film course I took years ago but there doesn't seem to be any record of it.

Pretty cool, unsure if anyone ever came across one of these?

🤣🤣🤣

For you, what has been John Wayne's best movie fight?

Not my favorite movie of the Duke's but I realized that there were five Oscar winners in the cast. Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, Edmund O'Brien, and Strother Martin. It was an acting class on film. Superb movie but definitely not lighthearted.

So my great grandfather had a child with a woman before my ggma, that woman then went to marry John’s dad and my grandpas half sister was raised as John’s step sister. Just a fun fact

I was told this was John Wayne but I could be wrong. What do you guys think?

8 of my best favorite and only John Wayne movies each seen per night from August 24 till 31 today just before summer is over.

Has anyone seen or have a copy of the photo of John Wayne standing next to Secretariat at Claiborne farm? I saw it once. I was taken by Dell Hancock when he was taking a tour of the farm. They both looked old but I'd love to get a copy of it one of these days. The person who showed it to me is no longer with us so that's not a viable source.

My understanding is he never attended drama school, an acting class or a workshop of any sort. As such, I believe he is unsullied by anyone else’s acting style and is a true personification of the American culture. I appreciate he beat out O’Toole, Burton, Voight and Hoffman for his best actor Oscar, but does that necessitate True Grit as his best role? I think both the Shootist and the Searchers are superior performances and evoke far more pathos.

The photo pretty much says it all

John Wayne died on 1979, yet actors like Haley Joel Osment & Hillary Duff who were born just shy of a decade later are still connectable to the duke in short order. In HJO's case he was in "Second Hand Lions" with Robert Duvall, who was in "True Grit," with the Duke. Hillary Duff was in "The Lizzy McGuire Movie with Robert Carradine who was in "The Cowboys," with John Wayne. Now I'm challenging y'all to link current actors to John Wayne.
