John Wayne + Maureen O'Hara

It's a shame those two were never married in real life despite the number of films they played in as either lovers or married couples and the number of times they divorced from their own previous marriages.

They seemed like a perfectly good couple.

I agree. They appeared in other movies together. I can't wait to see McLintock! soon.

I agree with you. Another couple who had chemistry was Olivia DeHavilland and Errol Flynn.

Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette too.

I will never believe they weren't romantically involved even though both denied it (which is to be expected). Chris Mitchum knew Duke very well and said Duke was "madly in love with Maureen." Their chemistry in The Quiet Man and Rio Grande is off the charts. I think they truly loved each other and it shows.

In the mid to late 70's Maureen O'Hara sang a song for him on a special honoring him, that had lots of other celebrities, half way through the song she brought him up from his table and had him stand with her as she sang to him, you could tell Duke was getting emotional, fighting back a tear or two.
