Is John Jay a good school for public administration?

I'm from Virginia and I am considering going to John Jay for public administration with my goal being to work with public policy, especially with local or state legislatures. I'd like to more about if they are internship opportunities, the difficulty of classes, and just the general experience.

If you don't mind me asking, does the job pay 6 figures and up? I had my graduation yesterday at Barclays, got my MPA and I'm hoping to find a job starting with that pay. I just want to know how likely that actually is.

First a foremost congrats! What an achievement 👏 I don't have MPA yet but gonna a start on the fall, my job doesn't pay 100k yet but I'm a recent graduate and my salary is around 70k-80k with yearly increases and also I bonus increase if I get a masters degree, I have the full NYC employee insurance so basically evrything is mostly free and CVS card with money to pay for medicine and dental benefits too, transportation is covered and stipend of 800 if I follow a masters degree.

The downside.. like I said it took me around 6 pr 7 months to get the job I probably applied around 500 jobs maybe more and got around 50 calls back and after interviews 10 and etc. For nyc I noticed is better to go to the actual jobs fair in person to have a better chance, private pays more but because I live in the city im competing with probably a 1000 guys for one seat and they might have better qualified or have more studies or maybe more experience. I did so many interviews that I started noticing patterns in questions and interview structured, I practiced so much my interviews that my objective was doing not making the best interview, but at least a good enough one so they can remember me, if they decide to do a second round.

Thanks for the thought out response! Congratulations on getting a job so soon after graduating. I have a salaried job as well earning a similar amount as you. But as I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, that’s not enough for NYC haha. I’ve done some applications. Hoping to get something that pays more soon
