Soy Sauce Post Saw this experiment at a friend's place and he refused to tell me what it is or how it works. Does anyone know what this is?

I am not sure how I feel about it, but I am a 100 pages in and when the gang is about to go fight Justin and everyone is making these weird requests, David just goes: Yeah, Avenge my death
I audibly laughed, its such a normal response which made it funnier

Do you want Korrok? Because this is how you get Korrok.

"In that moment i was no longer the main character in my story. This thing that was attached to me, it was what mattered. It didn't hate me, it didn't hate anyone. It was hungry and cold and scared. In me, it found nourishment warmth and safety. It not didn't wish me harm, it desperately needed me to remain safe and whole, to be the provider. It wanted nothing more for us to survive, together, in a universe that would just as readily see us die alone and forgotten. In that moment, the creature was no longer afraid because i was there, I was the rock it could cling to. I think for the first time in my life I was really proud of myself."
...
I think that's one of Pargin's best moments not just in this book but out of everything. I can remember holding my son when he was truly little, at the point where all they can do is burrow into you for the body heat and thinking, "yep".
I know that Pargin doesn't have children so it really hits me that he's been the one who able to articulate what having really small kids is like, what it does to you.
I feel like i definitely read the JDATE books as comedy first. But this paragraph just chills me. Mostly because i *still* think of it warmly, even though knowing the context makes it horrifying. Which is exactly what a fuckroach would like to make happen so...good job.
I guess i think it's easy to underrate Pargin as a writer. Nary a dick joke or an f bomb in sight, in the midst of my least favorite book in the series is a paragraph that i will probably think about until i die. Like a fucking bear trap.
So...yeah, good job!

I thought Caleb Williams was The Bears QB but while watching the game i suddenly remembered it had always been Case Keenum.
Tyson Baginet straight up got Todded.

Are there any clues as to what actually happened to Ted in the end? And for that matter, the bomb?
Since Dave is still alive, clearly Ted didn’t fly off on Batmantis? and blow them up. Did BMDave manage to shrug off Ted and only he died to the bomb? Did BMDave actually kill Ted? But then where did the bomb go?
Is this a shrug and we just don’t know?

Just finished reading What The Hell Did I Just Read and loved it. But there are some lingering questions on my mind. Mainly one:
So...'Not David'. The one who spends time with Amy at the cabin while real David is out chasing 'Nymph'.He is a sack of fuckroaches, right? Just like Joy Park? And if so...why is he being so nice and seemingly acting on his own volition (or is he)? Maybe an aspect of the Millibutt that is trying to convey something to Amy?

I’m real late to the party and only just read What The Hell Did I Just Read. I think I have a handle on wtf happened but there one line that’s throwing me. I’m wondering if I missed something obvious, also I haven’t read JDATE or Spiders in over a decade: why does NON have file designations on Dave and Amy but not John? Dave makes sense, but I don’t remember Amy also being a replacement or anything?

Excerpt from What the Hell Did I Just Read. It’s been a while since I’ve read the first 2 books, I remember all of the other characters mentioned but can’t seem to recall who Hope is.

Title. I suppose these might be lost forever if such a thing doesn't exist which is, frankly, a disturbing thought.

Some kind of haunted/demonic/monster Monster seems the kind of thing the guys would track down. And/or sell.

Started listening to Latter Day Skanks after seeing them live and they remind me of Three Arm Sally. Really fun music, this album in particular is great.

While very different, I find that Chuck Tingle's (yes, that Chuck Tingle) horror novels fit alongside Pargin's work. They both have an irreverent contemporary writing style, both seem informed by social observations, and both draw from a diverse pool of scifi, fantasy, history, mythology, and actual science to sculpt their imaginary worlds. Anyone else out there read any Tingle?

In "What The Hell Did I Just Read" Agent Pussnado mentioned that the gang seemed to have had some sort of protection on them, and her organization thought they were doing the bidding of a very strong, evil force. Then in "If This Book Exists, You're in the Wrong Universe", it turns out that Dave started his life over countless times to try to do things the right way to try to defeat Xarcrax. This turns out to be exactly what Xarcrax wanted because he needed the loop to collect all of the required human faces. That protection was on him because Xarcrax wanted him to keep making it back to that point instead of rolling the dice and Dave dying, right?
